Each portion is written by a different Jewish person to his/her knowledge.  She
remembers one commentary was written by an architect..  She bought it about ten
years ago and used it as a gift and would like to get another copy.
Does that ring a bell to anyone?

2023-12-28 Thread Dina Tanners via Hasafran
Thank you all for the responses to a book on Parashot ha Shavua written by
a variety of authors including architects, musicians, etc.

I was delighted that one of you found the book for my friend. It is called*
Unscrolled: 54 Writers and Artists Wrestle with the Torah* by Roger Bennett.

Again, thank you to all that replied.

Re: [ha-Safran] Looking for a book with different authors for each Parashat Hashavua

2023-12-27 Thread Marjorie Gann via Hasafran
The book doesn't ring a bell, but the term "architect" made me think of
Rabbi Michael Hattin, who is an architect-turned-rabbi. He has written his
own commentary, and the anthology you remember might have taken one of his
chapters. When he talks about the mishkan and other biblical construction
projects, his architectural knowledge is prominent. You might google under
his name.
