ASF GitHub Bot logged work on HDDS-2368:

Author: ASF GitHub Bot
Created on: 26/Oct/19 19:20
Start Date: 26/Oct/19 19:20
Worklog Time Spent: 10m
  Work Description: adoroszlai commented on pull request #93: HDDS-2368.
TestOzoneManagerDoubleBufferWithDummyResponse failing intermittently
URL: https://github.com/apache/hadoop-ozone/pull/93

   ## What changes were proposed in this pull request?

   Fix TestOzoneManagerDoubleBufferWithDummyResponse, which (very)
intermittently fails at:

   ```
testDoubleBufferWithDummyResponse(TestOzoneManagerDoubleBufferWithDummyResponse.java:116)
   ```

   *
https://github.com/elek/ozone-ci-03/blob/master/pr/pr-hdds-2345-jsf2s/unit/hadoop-ozone/ozone-manager/org.apache.hadoop.ozone.om.ratis.TestOzoneManagerDoubleBufferWithDummyResponse.txt

   *
https://github.com/elek/ozone-ci-03/blob/master/pr/pr-hdds-2272-bfh6s/unit/hadoop-ozone/ozone-manager/org.apache.hadoop.ozone.om.ratis.TestOzoneManagerDoubleBufferWithDummyResponse.txt

   Variables are set in one thread (`OzoneManagerDoubleBuffer#daemon`):

https://github.com/apache/hadoop-ozone/blob/6a6558025ec35203bfd61839aadf7b2a26520222/hadoop-ozone/ozone-manager/src/main/java/org/apache/hadoop/ozone/om/ratis/OzoneManagerDoubleBuffer.java#L160-L186

   and checked in the test thread:

https://github.com/apache/hadoop-ozone/blob/6a6558025ec35203bfd61839aadf7b2a26520222/hadoop-ozone/ozone-manager/src/test/java/org/apache/hadoop/ozone/om/ratis/TestOzoneManagerDoubleBufferWithDummyResponse.java#L110-L117

   The test waits for the first variable (`flushedTransactionCount`) to reach
`bucketCount`. The other variable (`totalNumOfFlushedTransactions`) is set
later, so the test thread may reach the assertion before the updater thread
reaches `updateMetrics`.

   The proposed fix swaps check of variables in the test: wait for the second
variable and let the assertion check the first one. This guarantees that both
of them are updated by the time `waitFor` returns.

   https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDDS-2368

   ## How was this patch tested?

   Reproduced the failure by adding some sleep in
`OzoneManagerDoubleBuffer#updateMetrics`. Verified the test passes with the
fix despite the sleep.

Lisheng Sun commented on HDFS-14935:

i agree your idea. before code getNode() has already checked excludedScope.
{code:java}
DFSTopologyNodeImpl root = (DFSTopologyNodeImpl)node;
Node excludeRoot = excludedScope == null ? null : getNode(excludedScope);{code}
but is it necessary to check for specific parameters for the private method
provided?

i updated this patch and uploaded the v003 patch.Thank you [~ayushtkn].

   Add an UT in ```TestOmBucketInfo.java``` for testing ```copyObject()```

   Ref to ```TestOmVolumeArgs#testClone```,

   cause the ```copyObject()``` in ```OmBucketInfo.java``` don't clone acl.

Yes, it should stop, means if it is moving ahead, it is sure that the
conditions that throw exception are not true, then again if we call normalize()
we will again do these checks unnecessarily, where we already know that these

[~ayushtkn]

i think if there is illegalArgumentException, it should throw this Exception
and stop.

As NetworkTopology#countNumOfAvailableNodes() is also done.
{code:java}
@VisibleForTesting
public int countNumOfAvailableNodes(String scope,
Collection excludedNodes) {
  boolean isExcluded=false;
  if (scope.startsWith("~")) {
isExcluded=true;
scope=scope.substring(1);
  }
  scope = NodeBase.normalize(scope);
 .
}{code}
Please correct me if i was wrong. Thank you [~ayushtkn]

[jira] [Commented] (HDFS-14908) LeaseManager should check parent-child relationship when filter open files.

Jinglun commented on HDFS-14908:

Hi [~hexiaoqiao], v01 is not the final version using Strings.startsWith() and
character comparison. I upload v04 as the final version of
*[startsWIthAndCharAt]*.

Hi [~elgoiri] , v02~v04 use different ways to implement DFSUtil.isParnet().
{quote}v04 uses String.startsWith() + char comparison.   *[startsWIthAndCharAt]*

v02 uses String.startsWith().
*[startsWith]*

v03 uses optimized startsWith().                                *[isParent]*

v02 + v03 are designed for common use while v04 only cover the case of
listOpenFiles().
{quote}
[~hexiaoqiao] prefer using *[**startsWIthAndCharAt/v04**]* because that would
be more readable and performance cost diff is small.

I'd prefer *[isParent/v03]* because I want DFSUtil.isParnet() to be a common
method. If using *[**startsWIthAndCharAt/v04**]* then it won't be common
because it doesn't cover all the cases. *[isParnet/v03]* also has a better
performance especially in case 2. (case 2 means the path ends with a '/').

> Now when doing listOpenFiles(), LeaseManager only checks whether the filter
> path is the prefix of the open files. We should check whether the filter path
> is the parent/ancestor of the open files.

> In OM HA, the actual execution of request happens under GRPC context, so UGI
> object which we retrieve from ProtobufRpcEngine.Server.getRemoteUser(); will
> not be available.
> In similar manner ProtobufRpcEngine.Server.getRemoteIp().
>
> So, during preExecute(which happens under RPC context) extract userName and
> IPAddress and add it to the OMRequest, and then send the request to ratis
> server.
