Anu Engineer commented on HDDS-2287:

[~vinodkv], we can think of HDDS as similar to Hadoop Common, but with more
separation and built in shading. So eventually when HDFS consumes it, we will
consume HDDS via a Maven package. That is what we were thinking, this allows
the dependencies of HDDS to be fully isolated from all down stream, which is a
big issue in the world of Hadoop.

As of now Ozone releases contain hdds and ozone artifacts. Both are moved
together

This is the command from the wiki:
{code:java}
ls -1 | egrep -v
'hadoop-ozone|hadoop-cblock|hadoop-hdds|hadoop-hdsl|pom.ozone.xml' | xargs -n1
rm -rf{code}
It was not clearly explained but it means that ozone/hdds/cblock/hdsl projects
are kept in the new repository.

Your question is valid, but I would follow the current release structure with
the repositories. When hdds will be stabilized it can be moved to a separated
repositories and both Ozone and HdfsV2 can depend on it. As of now Ozone and
Hdds projects are moving fast and together, but the original separation is kept
in [https://github.com/apache/hadoop-ozone]

Is there a concrete proposal on which exact modules move and which don't?
Scanned the wiki page and don't find it.

Color me completely disconnected, but I was a bit surprised to see on
HADOOP-16654 that HDDS also moves out. When it all started, didn't we talk
about possibility of multiple storage systems on top of HDDS and Ozone happens
to be one of them? If so, why do we tie them together this way? Shouldn't HDDS
stay in the 'core' ? Or are Ozone & HDDS tightly coupled now?
