[Histonet] revised Cap regulation ANP .21395 ??

2018-06-14 Thread Roy, Ryan via Histonet
Hello Histonetters,

What is the take home message of this revision? How are other labs complying
with respect to Special staining? Do you keep records of individual case
control verification or just individual block verification? Does anyone run NEG
controls for Special staining? Is this regulation requiring Neg Controls for
special stains? Any thoughts are appreciated.

" **revised** 08/17/2016
ANP .21395

Special Stains/Studies

For special stains, including histochemical stains, and studies using
immunologic and ISH methodology, positive and negative controls are verified
and recorded as acceptable prior to or concurrent with the reporting of patient
results and records maintained. "

Thanks you,

[Histonet] Syringe Pump error Ventana??

2018-03-29 Thread Roy, Ryan via Histonet
Does anybody know what the Syringe Pump is on the Ventana Benchmark Special
Stainer?? What does it refer to in layman's terms? The operators manual is
really vague, unless I missed a page?

[Histonet] histology AND incinerators?

2018-01-18 Thread Roy, Ryan via Histonet
Are any histology labs out there using incinerators for decontamination of lab
forceps? We are setting up to begin using Germinator 500 at both gross and
embed center, was wondering if any other labs have used this type of
technology, any insights helps.

Thanks in advance,

[Histonet] New Cap cross contamination at gross bench

2018-01-12 Thread Roy, Ryan via Histonet
Anyone out there see the new CAP requirement regarding cross contamination at
gross bench and cleaning of forceps.

How are other people planning to comply. My supervisor has instructed me to use
a Germinatior 500 at gross bench and at Embedd center.

I have no experience using these sterilizers but my initial thought is that I
will need to be really careful not to inadvertently apply too much heat to the
tissue.

Any thoughts appreciated,

Re: [Histonet] [EXTERNAL]

2016-05-17 Thread Roy, Ryan via Histonet
Hello,

I wish you had contacted me a few months back. Management moved a tech over
internally here.

I will put you in contact with White River Junction VAMC . They may have a
postion open. Also, I would check University of Vermont Med center;,
Brattleboro Memorial hospital, Dartmouth Medical Center, Catholic Medical
Center, Manchester.

I know people at all these locations, often times a latent position (everyone
knows about it ) won't post until a certain period so you wouldn' t know its
there without asking. That said, Ill ask around.

Good morning,

My name is Kaylie Grenier, I am a histology student at Goodwin College. Kelli
Goodkowsky gave me your email address so I can get in contact with you. I am in
my final semester of the program and I am hoping to relocate to New Hampshire
at the end of August and am planning on taking my HT certification as soon as I
am eligible. I was just wondering if you knew of any potential positions up in
NH or if you knew of anyone I could get in contact with. I will be moving to
the New London, NH area. Thanks!

[Histonet] Salutations from former GC histo sci student

2016-02-01 Thread Roy, Ryan via Histonet
Hello Kelli,

You may remember me as one of your online graduates from the GC histological
science program. How are you? For some reason I thought your involvement with
the GC histo program had changed, but seeing your recent post to the histonet
it appears your still the director of that program?

I hope things are well. You were instrumental in helping me complete that
program successfully and were also a good instructor. Ive been at the VA
Manchester NH for 2 years now. I am the lone histotech here since the other
technician left. Things are going great though we have a critical need for
another qualified technician. Please let me know if any of your students
especially those already holding a BS would be interested in employment at the
VA Hospital in Manchester NH. I could certainly guide them through the
application process.

Thanks a ton,
