Re: [Histonet] Credentials

There is no CAP requirement that a person has to be certified or qualified in
any way to perform Histology or Histology Assistant duties. As long as you can
document their proven competency, they are good to perform any procedure. The
only exception in the Histology lab, is if that tech is required to perform
gross. Then they must be documented to be able to perform CLIAA high
complexity testing.

Yes, BUT, in states where a certification/license is required to work in
Histology (such as Florida) state requirements supersede CAP's and the
inspectors have to oblige.René

Re: [Histonet] Credentials for performing IHC staining

2009-05-01 Thread Rene J Buesa
Regardless of the instrument, or if IHC is done manually, it is considered a
high complexity test and the person doing it should be an accredited or
licensed, specially trained, histotechnologist or med tech specialized in IHC
which is a new ASCP accreditation level.
