Two martyrs, 200 injuries in bloody confrontations with Zionists
in West Bank, Gaza
Occupied Jerusalem: 17 October/00 - Israeli bloody repression
of unarmed Palestinian protesters continued unabated Tuesday
despite the so-called "Sharm el-Sheikh agreement," resulting
in two fresh martyrs and over two hundred injuries.
Palestinian sources said a Palestinian youth was martyred in
Gaza Monday afternoon when a sniper bullet hit him in the head.
Earlier, a 28-year-old Palestinian farmer was murdered by
marauding Israeli settlers near the village of Beit Furik near
Nablus.
The settlers, armed with Uzi-submachine guns, opened fire on a
group of Palestinian farmers, killing Farid Masatra, and injuring
seriously three of his relatives.
During the past few days, the settlers murdered ten Palestinians
in a gruesome manner as the Israeli government effectively
continued to turn a blind eye to their atrocities.
Meanwhile, bloody confrontations between heavily armed Israeli
soldiers and unarmed Palestinian civilians continued throughout
the West Bank and Gaza Strip.
In Rafah near Gaza, the Zionists bombarded with rockets Palestinian
buildings and at the northern edge of the Gaza Strip Israeli soldiers
opened fire indiscriminately on Palestinian laborers, wounding six
of them.
Sources in Gaza said over 150 Palestinian protesters were injured
in today's confrontations.
In the West Bank, confrontations also continued along the so-
called friction lines in Nablus, Ramallah, Hebron, Bethlehem.
This happened as Fatah and Hamas leaders in West Bank and Gaza
Strip vowed to keep up the intifada despite the "cease fire
understanding" reached at Sharm El-Sheikh.
Fatah leader in the West Bank said the Palestinian people were
not going to sell their martyrs' blood so cheaply, alluding to
the agreement at sharm el-Sheikh.
Hamas also labeled that agreement as a submission, vowing to
continue the intifada.
Hamas' leader in Gaza Sheikh Ahmed Yasin was quoted as saying
that the "intifada is not over modalities, but about freedom
and liberation of the Palestinian people from the Zionist
occupation."
