Frankly I don't send HIM email, I don't want him to send ME any. I send email to VALVE and get spammed by another party, that makes it Valve's problem/fault. It's an EASY fix (this I know for a fact) and I don't understand the reasons behind the inaction. Perhaps someone from Valve (Read: if you are NOT from Valve, don't guess an answer) can explain why they let this continue? I've worked in a couple abuse@ departments (fighting spam, specifically) and like I said, I know how easy this is to fix. So I guess that, really, is what's pissing me off the most. Re: [hlds] SPAM - Valve!?!
I get enough email from this list...by all means, I dont need more. This is exactly what the mailing lists are trying to prevent, not some guy creating more of. Lets try not to have any more message spam please? and I apoligze for replying to this but its just something I need to say. This mailing list is strictly for half-life dedicated servers, not for some people to play around with. Oh so it had nothing to do with tickrates? It was just my updaterate? Cause sure enough, sv_maxupdaterate 19 is what i have in my server.cfg. Re: [hlds] Re: Tickrates...
yup, it needs to be allowed to send as many updates as you're having it calculate. Having the server calculate 100 updates a second isn't going to help anything when you're only allowing clients to be sent 19 updates per second. [hlds] QStat Problem HalfLife 1
Just wondering if this is normal... I am using the latest version of qstat, which supposedly has the new steam protocol implemented (2.8), but I am unable to query HL1 servers. I am able to query HLTV servers without problems tho. I can also query servers that are not updated. Was there any other changes to the protocol recently? It seems to have started way after the update that changed the protocol? ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
Re: [hlds] QStat Problem HalfLife 1
You need to use the new HL protocol switch, its not -hls anymore. Run qstat on its own to see the list of switches, it may called steam or source related query, I cant remember off hand what switch you need to use, sorry. - Plasma - Original Message - From: Ruiner [EMAIL PROTECTED] To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Sent: Tuesday, July 26, 2005 11:15 PM Subject: [hlds] QStat Problem HalfLife 1 Just wondering if this is normal... It may be a combination, but sv_maxupdaterate will put a cap on the server packetrate. There is no point in this value exceeding your tickrate, and there is good reason to allow it up to your tickrate. i.e. tickrate 33 sv_maxupdaterate 33 tickrate 66 sv_maxupdaterate 66 tickrate 100 sv_maxupdaterate 100 - check maxrate for this. Re: [hlds] Add Speedx Codec?
-- [ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] The thing is, as things currently stand with the default miles codec is that nobody can use it effectively. At least with speex you would be satisfying 90%??? of you user base with a codec that people can actually use and understand. Our CS 1.6 Servers have no complaints from people with it set to: sv_voicecodec voice_speex sv_voicequality 4 So unless its a Source specific problem with speex, I personally do not see what the problem really is? Is it not worth the minor hassle of a disgruntled 10% (from our experience with speex it would be considerably less) and have a codec that was useful rather than the current default codec that nobody can understand. Moreover, how about letting Server Admins have the opportunity to find out just how big a problem this is for you, by at least offering it as an option in SRCDS. Just put in the cmd notes a warning that there could be problems. Is that a good idea Alfred? Re: [hlds] QStat Problem HalfLife 1
You will need the version of qstat from the CVS tree on sourceforge and NOT 2.8 or other currently precompiled version. Steve / K - Original Message - From: Ruiner [EMAIL PROTECTED] I'm pretty sure I got the correct switches... -hls still works with hltv -a2s and -hls don't work at all on all my updated hl1 servers. But this seems recent! It was working after the protocol update (when hlsw needed to be updated). Now I get timeouts... I don't get it really :o This e.mail is private and confidential between Multiplay (UK) Ltd. and the person or entity to whom it is addressed. [hlds] hldsupdatetool - query version numbers from steam content server possible?
This is a fairly simple request: I know I can see what version is installed on my client, with hldsupdatetool -command version, but is it possible to query the steam content server for the current version #? If it's not possible, it would be great to have this implemented.. maybe in the list function, all mods are listed, but not the version numbers.
