[hlds] VAC Problem Could Not Establish Connection to Steam Servers

2005-08-24 Thread leo bounds
Since no one replied last time I'm reposting this
question/Problem.

After the last few updates I now have problems with
some of my CSS servers where when I start it up it
will say VAC Secured then a few seconds later it
will go unsecured with a message saying Could Not
Establish Connection to Steam Servers

I have other CSS Servers on this same machine that are
VAC Secured with no problem. This server is running on
its own IP on Windows machine.
I have run multiple CSS servers on the same machines
for months with no problems until these last few
updates.

I understand there's some new -sport option but I
don't know what this does or what the fix is to
correct this problem with several CSS Servers running
on the same machine.

It would really be great if someone could share the
fix solution for this problem.

Thank you,
LB

RE: [hlds] SourceTv Proxie Config

2005-08-24 Thread Martin Otten
server.cfg is not executed by TV relay proxies.

Put your SourceTV settings in a new text file, eg sourcetv.cfg, the
start the server with

+exec sourcetv.cfg +tv_relay x.x.x.x

That should work.

[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ] I am tring to setup a
couple of sourceTV servers however I am trying to lower the play count.

IN the command line I have +tv_relay xxx.x.x.xx

It runs the server with 128 player slots I want to lower that. So I
tried putter +maxplayers in the command line but HLSW still says 0/128

I also tried added to the server.cfg

tv_enable 1
tv_name Name
tv_autorecord 0
tv_delay 180
tv_dispatchmode 1
tv_maxclients 32
tv_maxrate 3500

This did not work Hiw do I get the proxie to change its name and
maxclients?

Also is 180 or 90 the max delay?

[hlds] Blocking/Limiting use of bots?

2005-08-24 Thread Alex Spencer

Hi,

I was wondering if there's any way to stop customers using bots on their
CS:S servers from a GSP's standpoint. Currently we have a couple of
users who're running a few bots each, and it's hurting performance a
little- not critical as yet, but i'd like to be able to limit the number
of bots per server.

Cheers
Alex.

From my experiences the only reason you should have to use the -sport option

is if you run more than one server on the same ip on your box.But as far as
if they are on the same ip BUT different port I'm not sure on as all my
servers share different ips.

RE: [hlds] Blocking/Limiting use of bots?

If you have -autoupdate in the start line or have edited the hlds_run the
server restarts after 10 seconds, it does not close it down completely.

Make sure you stop the server completely so it reads the start line again
(just restarting the server eg rcon quit will not read the start line).

BOTS do join but get kicked straight away by consol.

Ok, you're refering to Linux servers. -autoupdate doesn't work on windows nor
os there an hlds_run file.

Technically yes RCON quit does shut it down but like you said, if there's an
auto restart .cfg file or app, it will restart.

[hlds] RE: Constant crash on SRCDS (real thread)

2005-08-24 Thread Dabosman
Well, so much for a response on my crash issue .. Since the
'reverse-spammer' had to degenerate the thread into nothing related to what
I was asking about.

For those curious - and hopefully this actually helps someone - those
constant HARD crashes have stopped (with 'Missing Shutdown Function') once I
removed 'Nemod' from the server) .. And updated Mani-mod to the latest
version. I suspect Nemod was causing the problem.

Hope this helps someone (as I know the reverse-spammers responses and
flame-war sure didn't).

One of my regulars pointed out someone doing something fishy on a
server today and the idiot actually talked enough about it that I
 could track it down.

 http://www.gotfrag.com/dod/forums/thread/147822/

Basically it looks like they execute this command string and they get
 the run of the server. Well do the following bind p changeclass;
 wait; jointeam 4 enjoy!

 Farther down, someone added this:
lol tis fun, especially at the beginning of the rounds, its like a
free ride to spawn camping. its spec glitching but it starts you at
the middle or some where close. Dont go to servers with FF on because
your teamates will shoot you. ohh and flash british side, you spawn
in a spot that you cant get out of.

 And this:
 they fixed the old one were while your dead you hit changeteam;
changeclass and you choose spectatots than a weapon, but yea you
spawn in teh middle of the map on all maps and if you run over a flag
yout ake it off the map until you die.

The log entries look like this every time the guy did it:

Re: [hlds] VAC Problem Could Not Establish Connection to Steam Servers

2005-08-24 Thread Mikee

I found out from a server rental company that I use what was causing the
initial VAC enabled that turned off after about 5-10 seconds when starting
up my HL2DM server, and it took them a while to find the problem. They let
me know that if there is more than one server running on a box, that not
only is the -sport switch needed, but it is also required that all the
servers be updated to the latest patch. There was one that had not been
updated, and when they didit allowed my unrelated HL2DM server to
maintain the VAC2 status. I also run Mani's Mod, and stay up to date with
the latest versions of that.

From my experiences the only reason you should have to use the -sport
option
is if you run more than one server on the same ip on your box.But as far
as
if they are on the same ip BUT different port I'm not sure on as all my
servers share different ips.

Thank you,
LB

[hlds] Counter-Strike:Source SRCDS Defaults?

2005-08-24 Thread Whisper
--
[ Picked text/plain from multipart/alternative ]
Anybody know what the default sv_ values are for Counter-Strike SRCDS.

I know you are going to say, do a cvarlist, but thats not going to work.

Quite a few of them, the default is not the default listed when you query a
sever variable on a per variable basis, if you do so it will say things
like:

[code]sv_accelerate = 5 ( def. 10 )
game notify replicated

sv_stopspeed = 75 ( def. 100 )
game notify replicated
- Minimum stopping speed when on ground.[/code]

Quite clearly it says the defaults are 10 100 here respectively, but if
you do a default install of SRCDS for Counter-Strike:Source you get
different values of 5 75 respectively.

Oh, and these 2 variables alone make a huge difference to the feel of the
game.

So anyhow, is there a way of checking what the defaults are for
Counter-Strike:Source SRCDS installation, especially for sv_ Server
Variables?

RE: [hlds] VAC Problem Could Not Establish Connection to Steam Servers

2005-08-24 Thread ray
Here's a tip for those that don't look back on the archives...

Default server port = 27015
Default hltv port = 27020
Default steam port = 27021

If you run multiple servers on the same IP do the following as an example...

Server One = -ip xx.xx.xx.xx -port 27015 -sport 27021
Server Two = -ip xx.xx.xx.xx -port 27016 -sport 27022
Etc, etc.

What is happening is that if you run a game server at a default port of
another service (hltv or steam) then that port is taken when you go to start
another instance. The solution is to simply determine what uses what in the
command line for each server instance.

I found out from a server rental company that I use what was causing the
initial VAC enabled that turned off after about 5-10 seconds when starting
up my HL2DM server, and it took them a while to find the problem. They
 let
me know that if there is more than one server running on a box, that not
only is the -sport switch needed, but it is also required that all the
servers be updated to the latest patch. There was one that had not been
updated, and when they didit allowed my unrelated HL2DM server to
maintain the VAC2 status. I also run Mani's Mod, and stay up to date with
 the latest versions of that.

That was a short and to the point. Thank you! I think this will help a lot
of people, myself included.

Subject: RE: [hlds] VAC Problem Could Not Establish Connection to Steam
Servers

Here's a tip for those that don't look back on the archives...

 Default server port = 27015
 Default hltv port = 27020
 Default steam port = 27021

If you run multiple servers on the same IP do the following as an
example...

 Server One = -ip xx.xx.xx.xx -port 27015 -sport 27021
 Server Two = -ip xx.xx.xx.xx -port 27016 -sport 27022
 Etc, etc.

What is happening is that if you run a game server at a default port of
another service (hltv or steam) then that port is taken when you go to
start
another instance. The solution is to simply determine what uses what in
the
command line for each server instance.
