[hlds] New version of firedaemon out
Also from reading their forums, it seems they had an alpha build of a new project called PanelDaemon - a web interface to firedaemon, though since hurricane katrina hit it's not available at the moment, since their website was hosted out of new orleans. One of the new features in v1.8 is capturing and closing all application error popups for either a specific service, or all popups. Good for people who haven't added the -nocrashdialog command line option yet. Read about that here: http://forums.firedaemon.com/viewtopic.php?t=37 Happy upgrading! RE: [hlds] Lates Update 9-15-05 Broke Clients...
Speak of the devil, we have just released an update to fix this crash. What you were seeing was clients connecting then crashing, but the game server didn't know so it asked VAC2 if they were okay to play and VAC2 answered that the client wasn't around any more (they had crashed) and then the game logged that fact. This particular case had nothing to do with firewalls. - Alfred -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Alfred Reynolds Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 6:04 PM To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: RE: [hlds] Lates Update 9-15-05 Broke Clients... RE: [hlds] Lates Update 9-15-05 Broke Clients...
Note that this particular problem has nothing to do with servers (there have been no server updates for the last couple of weeks). When there is a server update this list (and the hlds_linux one) gets an email from us with the details. - Alfred -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Paladin82 Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 6:10 PM To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: RE: [hlds] Lates Update 9-15-05 Broke Clients... The clients are reporting that they can connect to other servers. My guess is that these are servers that have not been updated yet. When I try to connect as a client I don't get any message, just disconnected. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Napier, Kevin Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 6:03 PM To: hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: RE: [hlds] Lates Update 9-15-05 Broke Clients... This is happening to all users. I don't run a firewall on the server the servers IP is 66.98.198.59:27015. On my PC that I am connecting from I have no firewall, just a Linksys router and never had any problems connecting before. The Error I posted below is from the server console. I had no problems before the update. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Alfred Reynolds Sent: Thursday, September 15, 2005 5:07 PM To: Paladin82; hlds@list.valvesoftware.com Subject: RE: [hlds] Lates Update 9-15-05 Broke Clients... Well good old sv_inforcenothing. VALVe do everyone a favour and make consistency work for ALL skins as soon as you can please. Re: [hlds] Re: sv_consistency
yes, I consider that cheating as well, but how do you propose to block things like that without blocking any and all replacements? You have to remember, one of the reasons there is such a big community for Valve's games is the degree of customizability that exists. Somehow I doubt they're going to all of a sudden stop one of the big attractions to their product. On 9/15/05, Desolate_One [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: Well good old sv_inforcenothing.
