Re: [hlds] affinity issue
I know this is the win32 list, but to compare and contrast, I get 1/2 second freezes on linux if I _DO_ set affinity We noticed the server jumping cores every few minutes via gkrellm, so we set affinity... and got freezes every few minutes instead. By contrast if we leave scheduling up to the machine it'll jump cores (if we have 2 servers running, they swap cores) but stay smooth On Tue, 17 Jun 2008 22:41:28 -0400, Scott Tuttle [EMAIL PROTECTED] wrote: I have been setting affinity for a long time now. Re: [hlds] affinity issue
The problem on windows as it was for me if I didn't set affinity they would all auto bind to core 1. Causing the second core to not be used at all. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of localhost Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2008 11:05 AM To: Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list Subject: Re: [hlds] affinity issue I know this is the win32 list, but to compare and contrast, I get 1/2 second freezes on linux if I _DO_ set affinity We noticed the server jumping cores every few minutes via gkrellm, so we set affinity... and got freezes every few minutes instead. I'm kind of disappointed by the chosen maps. Fastlane is cool but not awesome, and turbine is quite old, it's been one of the first custom maps I put on my servers. Well, not that I'm force to use Valve's mapcycle. Re: [hlds] Automatic Startup
TCAdmin..gives us the ability to start and stop the servers, change files, upload files, IP's.everything we need to do if we're not able to get into the box on the run. It also give you the ability to have the servers start up manually after a box restart or automatically after a box restart. We currently have it starting manually for two reasons. 1)we're usually there when it restarts 2) and we have 5 servers that startup and it brings the server to its knees when it tries to do it all at once. Check out UGCC, www.brainless.us. A web based control panel that will start up servers on reboot among a lot of other things. Also can restart game servers if they crash or don't respond to queries. Also very affordable. -Original Message- From: [EMAIL PROTECTED] [mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED] On Behalf Of Chris Brunelle Sent: Wednesday, June 18, 2008 10:20 PM To: 'Half-Life dedicated Win32 server mailing list' Subject: [hlds] Automatic Startup Just curious what everyone is using in order to automatically start their servers up after a box reboot. ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds ___ To unsubscribe, edit your list preferences, or view the list archives, please visit: http://list.valvesoftware.com/mailman/listinfo/hlds
