[hlds] VPK tool crashing
Has anyone else been experiencing issues with the VPK tool (vpk.exe shipped with the game in /steamapps/common/Team Fortress 2/bin)? It crashes immediately when I try to use it to either create or extract a VPK, and it's been doing this for at least a few months. When extracting, it prints extracting [first file] and then crashes. The same thing happens on both my Windows 7 desktop and my Windows 8 laptop, so I'm pretty sure it's not an issue on my end. I'd really like for this to be fixed since I offer my community members signed VPKs so they can use mods on my servers, which run sv_pure. Yes, and it happens on my Ubuntu Linux server box as well. I filed a bug on the source-1-games bug tracker about it about a month ago: https://github.com/ValveSoftware/Source-1-Games/issues/1709 I'm not sure when exactly it broke, but I created a VPK of the Vs. Saxton Hale server content on March 2nd on the same box, so it broke sometime between then and now. Re: [hlds] VPK tool crashing
vpk crashes for me, too, on OS X, Windows Server 2008 and Windows 7, upon extracting. I had an old server that hadn't been touched or updated since December, and its VPK tool still worked. vpk.exe seems to depend on two dlls -- the old exe appears to work fine with the new dlls, but I packed up the old versions of all three files: http://cl.ly/3u0b0c18183z (Sorry, windows only) But Valve will definitely have to fix this. - Peter On May 1, 2014, at 9:55, Ross Bemrose rbemr...@gmail.com wrote: Yes, and it happens on my Ubuntu Linux server box as well.
