Welp... I dl'd the files long ago... ran -verify_all several times. I have the 
latest updates etc.

No addons... 100% vanilla on a windows testbox.

C:\SRCDS\cssbeta\srcds.exe -game cstrike -console +maxplayers 14 +map de_dust2 
+log 1 -ip 192.168.1.104 +hostport 27015

Nothing happens, lol. What am I missing? Anyone else having trouble?

I also tried -game cssbeta

I've rechecked everything many times... I host 
l4d/l4d2/tf2/css/ff/hl2dm/tfc 
go figure

I give... uncle :)

The beta for Counter-Strike: Source will be coming back online later today.  
Right now the dedicated  server files are available, so if you would like to 
run 
a dedicated server please start downloading the bits.  The hldsupdatetool game 
name is 'cssbeta'.  A more detailed announced, along with specific changes, 
will 
be set live once the client is up.

Releasing a required update without the capacity to handle everyone updating at 
once is a problem -- expecting people to leave their servers broken to reduce 
Valve's load isn't an acceptable solution.

Valve should either invest in the infrastructure to handle it or work with a 
service such as Akamai to handle the load from updates.

If TF2 is any indication, don't expect advance notification or beta releases 
(Valve even released an update they knew would break almost all management 
plugins without giving notification or a beta for the plugin developers to work 
with).

Consider the flip side of the coin; It reduces server load on Steam when not
everyone tries to update at once.
