I think the standard squares are fine. The residential areas are easy to find,
so scanning again is really no effort.

That sounds like a good idea.
I quite like the artistic effects, but they do make it hard to see the actual
work ...

Goodnight from the Alps

Re: [HOT] #Map4Ebola DRC OpenStreetMap Response to 2017 Ebola outbreak : 23-May 2017 priority mapping work

2017-05-23 Thread Claire Halleux
Awesome! #3060 is close to be completely validated and #3059 is 77%
completed already, thank you!

Sorry for the really tiny bits making the process repetitive, specially for
people covering amazing number of tiles!

We actually had some discussions on the best way to delimit this type of
tasks before publishing these 2 last ones. We had concluded that it would
be more intuitive to just have those individual (buffered) residential
landuse areas, even if sometimes small, than bigger areas where
contributors would need to span and look again for built-up areas.

If you'd have suggestions to improve this (should we have created some kind
of regular squared pattern?), we could integrate this to the workflow of
the next task. That one will focus on mapping all buildings of residential
areas identified in task #3046. However, we'll need validation to be
achieved on this initial mapping first, before reviewing the area in a more
detailed way.

Thanks for the piece of art ;)
In JOSM it is easy to hide those marqueurs' labels. Not too sure about iD
though. Would be good to have an option to hide them by default after the
first few editing sessions;.

Cheers

Claire

[HOT] News from Jorieke!

2017-05-23 Thread Jorieke Vyncke
Dear HOT community,

It’s with lots of pleasure I’m sharing with you that I started to work two
days ago as Missing Maps coordinator for MSF! The first two days, and the
excellent pre-start I had with the MSF scientific days
 are
promising… Isn’t this one of the most awesome jobs in the world?! J

However it has one downside, I had to resign from the HOT board due to the
conflict of interest the new job brings. The HOT membership is soon going
to vote for a new board member to fill in my spot.

With this I’m closing an intense two year period as board member for HOT.
Experiences and learnings for life I’d say! Thanks for all your support in
those not always easy two years. I strongly believe we have an excellent
new board team this year, ready to build, discuss and improve HOT as from
where it stands today!

And… in an attempt to fulfill my last board duties, I hereby share with you
the last meeting minutes I took. I leave the task of secretary with
pleasure to Melanie!
https://drive.google.com/file/d/0B65TOMtm9My4U3d4WXFjdVVIS1U/view

As always, please don’t hesitate to reach out to me, on whatever you feel
like, HOT, MSF, Missing Maps, or just to have a tea together somewhere in
London! J

All my best greetings,

Jorieke

2017-05-23 Thread Kretzer
This task is nearly finished in the meantime ...

"Buildings only" is an ice and quick job. But I wonder if it is neccessary to
make such tiny tiles. Sometimes each house gets its own tile like her in the
eastern part: http://tasks.hotosm.org/project/3059#task/230
This makes it a bit boring to open every tile in JOSM. In ID the ronud boundary
boxes produce unintentional artwork For example:
https://www.dropbox.com/s/3mtd39z1ons1zoe/drc11.png?dl=0
