Re: [HOT] A new tool for spotting buildings that overlap by more than 50%

2017-11-28 Thread john whelan
Mike has built a new faster version that handles larger numbers of
buildings better. Same link as the old one.

I tend to use it first to locate a cluster of these. Then I redownload the
area and use the to-do list to inspect each one.

[HOT] Fwd: Be the first to #mapthedifference!

2017-11-28 Thread Rebecca Firth
Hi all, you might have seen the launch of the HOT Crowdfunding Campaign!
The first $2 million of donations to non-profits through Facebook today are
matched by the Gates Foundation, so if you were planning to donate this
would be a great way to double your gift! https://www.facebook.com/hotosm/

Thanks,

Rebecca

 to double your impact!

*Today's the day, !*

It's Giving Tuesday, a chance to support your favorite causes and see
results. This year, as HOT, we faced an unprecedented challenge as *HOT
responded to seven simultaneous disasters*, including hurricanes in the
Caribbean, earthquakes in Mexico, and flooding in South Asia. You responded
as a dedicated global community, check out the video below to see some
highlights!

*We feel we can do more:*

   - more to strengthen local communities
   - more to support aid efforts of partner organizations
   - more to put the world’s most vulnerable places on the map

HOT is your community, your map, and your impact on the world. Help us stay
ready as we prepare to face a new year with new challenges.

*There are so many ways to help:*

1. *Donate on Facebook
*

today
and the first $2 Million will be matched by the Gates Foundation, giving
you the chance to double your impact!
2. *Be a fundraiser
*

in
HOT’s #mapthedifference Crowdfunding Campaign! We’ll help you with all the
tools you need to show friends and family how they can join the HOT
community.
3. *Support HOT
*’s
mission

throughout the year with a monthly gift. Even $5 per month helps us train
new mappers, support local communities through Microgrants and keep our
mapping apps online for another volunteer to use.
4. *Continue your commitment

*A
one-time gift can also have a great impact to help us prepare and be ready
to respond.
5. Spread the word

Re: [HOT] bug with {contribute}

2017-11-28 Thread Nate Smith
Rupert - Not seeing any issue when testing now on a couple browsers on my
end. Pierre just responded to Geoffrey’s message on the #sysadmin channel
on Slack. This may be due to javascript being disabled on that browser.
There are a couple folks online in that channel that can follow up to debug
and figure out the issue.

Let’s move the conversation there and we can help sort everything out.

Hi folks, and sorry if this already resolved in the thread: we are in a

Has anybody else experienced this?
Thanks,

Hai All,

I’m still a beginner in mapping and sometimes when i open a task there are
general instructions about what to do and how.
Would it be an idea to start with a small set of specific instructions like:

   - Map buildings and square them
   - Avoid building scrossing ways
   - Always connect roads etc.

Recently I mapped a task where there were many non-squared buildings, some
roads crossing buildings and some other things
Because of the answer on one of my previous questions now I try to correct
all these mistakes but with some basic instructions they can hopefully be
avoided
it’s frustating to see that someone has done a lot of work and that it all
have to be corrected.
