Re: [HOT] Buildings import / import de bâtiments (DRC & Uganda)

Hi,

Thank you very much for spotting this, the download links have been
corrected (one for a rural forested area with little existing OSM data and
another in a periurban area with much denser existing OSM data).

The 2 test projects in the tasking manager have also been made public for
anyone willing to check them (without uploading data yet), the links are
available on the workflow page.

And yes, we'll be running this by the imports mailing list next, it is
currently being discussed on talk-cd and talk-ug lists too.

Please do not forget to run this by the larger OSM community via the
imports mailing list when the time comes.

I wanted to follow the link "For a concrete example, you can check the
file for the first project in the Tasking Manager" but it only lead to
the dropbox.com main page.

Bye

[HOT] Buildings import / import de bâtiments (DRC & Uganda)

2020-07-03 Thread Claire Halleux

Hello list,

I'm contacting you to get feedback on an import prepared by HOT as part of
a project combining data extracted in an automated way and information
collected in the field [1].

This import consists of around 3.8 millions building footprints in
north-eastern DRC and 2.7 millions building footprints in western Uganda.
The data was extracted from high-resolution imagery provided by Maxar over
the period from 2015 to 2019.

You can check the proposed import wiki here:
https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/Eastern_DRC_%26_Western_Uganda_Maxar-Ecopia_Buildings_Import

A subpage containing the practical details of the proposed methodology to
perform this import is being finalized [2]. Both pages are already
available in English and French to gather feedback from contributors in
both countries.

Experienced OSM contributors who would like to participate in this import
will be welcome.
We are also welcoming any comments, questions, or issues you would have
regarding this import process.

Have a nice SotM week-end!
Claire

https://wiki.openstreetmap.org/wiki/FR:Import_B%C3%A2timents_Maxar-Ecopia_Est_RDC_%26_Ouest_Ouganda

Claire
