I could have worded that better, sorry.
Enfuse_droplet.bat only applies to windows users, and it would be helpful

[hugin-ptx] Linear Gigapixel wall pano help required

2014-11-23 Thread Emad ud din Bhatt
Dear Huginers,

I have shot a linear gigapixel panorama of a gigantic wall. Due to space
issue it could only be captured in linear panorama format. Wall is huge and
it is called Picture wall. Wall have hundereds of mosaic and fresco
paintings and a gigapixel image is required to show details.

I have shot it in columns. Standing on one spot, using an 80mm lens
capturing columns by tilting camera upwards. I have shot 26 columns. When I
stitch images there is wavy mustache type distortion. It is due to
distortion in each column due to camera tilting upwards. Each column has /
\ type distortion and when combine two columns there is wavy distortion.

I have been working in photoshop. First made columns and than removed
distortion by skewing its edges. But is there any way it can be done with
Hugin. Here is a result by autopano

[hugin-ptx] Re: Hugin 2014.0.0 Windows 64bit binary

2014-11-23 Thread Stefan Hoffmeister
Would there be a way to have up-to-date instructions for building?

I took a quick peek and was not entirely confident that creating a working
build system would be easy.

Right now, everybody gets the 2013 version of Hugin served by the download
link. This does not help in spreading all the goodness :)

I don't think there is a general problem (I'm not getting duplicate emails).

Can you find a way to forward a pair of duplicate emails to me, and I'll see
what is going-on? I need to see the full emails including headers, so use
'forward as attachment' or similar.

Hugin should be able to help with that.
Add some vertical lines...or have hugin automatically do that...and
optimise to p,r,y X,Y,Z.
It may help to add some horizontal lines as well, but given that you have
a lot of overlapping images, that might not be simple.
The perspective correction tutorial
(http://hugin.sourceforge.net/tutorials/perspective/en.shtml) may be of
some help. Hugin has added automatic vertical line removal since, and the
tutorial uses a much earlier version of hugin.
Also, have a look at linefind
(http://hugin.sourceforge.net/docs/manual/Linefind.html) which is used to
automatically detect the vertical lines.
Another alternative is to use hugin to stitch an equirectangular pano,
which may still have some distortions, and reload that into hugin and
manually set horizontal and vertical lines, as required, pretty much as
per the perspective correction tutorial. That will make it much easier to
define the horizontals.

Let's know how you get on.

Cheers,

It almost worked, but still had a little wiggle that I could not get

If my understanding is correct, there is another set of transforms that
are missing, perspective correction (something like here
http://tutorial9.s3.amazonaws.com/uploads/2008/04/skew-distort-perspective.gif

). Probably another one to compensate for the distance that is
different. But I'm not an expert here.

The Hugin roll, pitch and yaw parameters are enough to do the perspective
transformation you need; the XYZ viewpoint parameters compensate for the
different camera position; and the new (in 2014.0) 'plane pitch' and 'plane
yaw' parameters allow you to map this photo to the floor rather than a wall.

Second thing I understand is another way I'll be able to shoot a nadir.

If I take a nadir picture that is 100% parallel to the ground and at the
same height as the other pictures but that I moved the tripod off from
over the nodal point, then the steps you described would also enable
me to do great job here. correct?

Yes this should work too, the angle of the camera shouldn't make any difference.
