For example, Etoys, an independent but significant

I have been dreaming
of buying a £100 tablet, for installing Sugar, like this in local Maplin
store,

http://www.maplin.co.uk/arnova-8-g3-8in-touch-tablet-android-4.0-630087

It has: ARM A8 Cortex(tm) 1GHz processor, capacitive multi-touch
screen, 1GB RAM, front camera, Android 4.0, so am thinking it would be a
fine candidate for Fedora-arm / Sugar. I have not seen it discussed, has
it been done already?

I think Sugar-on-a-Stick (SoaS) can be plugged into recent Macs and works.

The iPad does not run Mac apps.

You've always been able to plug SoaS into x86 Macs and have it work
(just like any Linux distro), the latest version adds much better
support for it and there's been specific interest in making it work
properly with uEFI and all the Mac quirks.

It's quite easy to use SoaS on a usb key on Macs and with something
like VirtualBox you can run Sugar in a Window on Mac without too many
issues.

Sugar as an App on Mac is an interesting concept and with improving
Mac support within GTK3 something like the Sugar in a Window concept
we use for testing is quite conceivable once the Sugar port to GTK3 is
complete, of course like everything it needs someone to step up and do
the work.

[IAEP] Sugar as a Mac Ap?

XO Activities as iOS or Android apps - sounds interesting. Is this do-able?

I know there are lots of issues at the core of XO and Sugar mission
and development. But there are also millions of kids with devices in
their pockets who would benefit from technology supported learning.

We are investigating BYOD (Bring Your Own Device) for use in the US.
We haven't been able to get any interest in XOs. But the idea that
each kid with their own pocket learning device - includes iTouch with
wifi only, is getting a lot of attention. It's an education project
too, and one that is desperately needed to help bridge the widening
educational divide in the US.

Please think about it.

I thought about that too.
For my side decided to implement activities as HTML5/CSS3/Javascript
applications. It is a powerfull combination producable and useable on
nearly any device without any preconditions - beside an actual
webbrowser. For iOS an Android without pain wrappable to a local app
even with access to hardware like accelerometer, camera, mic ...
Additionally there are thousands of really nice webapps out there for
our kids. As some kind of starting point I did a simple kids
webbrowser for iOS maybe you would like to have a look on it in iTunes
App Store it is called: Kiosk Lite.

Thanks Raffael. Seems pretty useful after a quick look.

How hard would it be to make an iPhone version too? We are trying to
get the bar as low as possible. We have kids and schools with very
limited resources who see the possibilities. An old iPhone with a
cracked screen ($8 on eBay) can still connect to wifi at school and in
the public libraries as well as download wonderful free standalone
apps.

There are several easy to use tools to create custom webapps, too, so
more educators can create and customize the learning experience.

It isn't Sugar or XO but it does allow a large population of kids in
the US to have most of the advantages of the OLPC vision.

Exactly. And as I discussed with Tony at LinuxTag: It would be a great

I am considering using sugar for my 4 year old daughter and her friends.

Can Sugar be used on an iPad?

If not does anyone have any suggestions for getting a group if Japanese kids
involved? The benefit of the tablet us that very strong cases can be easily
purchased for kid use. Why buy an Intel Classmate when we already have iPads

All suggestions welcome,
