Ca Faver for Z/os
Hello; I hope this is the correct forum to post this. I have a number of files from a VSE system that are backed up using FAVER2. Faver2 is compattable with Faver on Z/os. The bckup contains VSAM, Vsam/Sam and Sam files. The manual (Z/os) states that all of these files can be restored, the problem is it gives no info on hoe to do it. There are tons of documentation on restoring VSAM files, but for the others, none. So the question is, has anyone done it, know how to do it. I kow it can be doe. Thanks Carl You rock. IMS DLI Option
Hi; Am using IMS(V9) and am a little confused. From what I read in the manual when using th DLI option you have to specify include DD statements for the Databases in th JCL stream. We use the DLI option and do NOT include the DD statements, yet we appear to be working ok. //STEP0060 EXEC PGM=DFSRRC00,PARM=('DLI,BFBPOLR,PSBB32C,,0100,,0,') Am I missing something? IDCAMS Repro vs ICETOOL
We have a series of jobs that use IDCAMS to move data from one platform to another. There are several hundred files stacked on tape, which was created by REPRO. These tapes are then read by the Z/os target system and loaded to the appropriate files. While the jobs runs, they seems to run forever. We have noticed that the job goes into DW for 3-5 seconds at the end of each REPRO process, allocation/deallocation I assume. If indeed this is the case then using another program such as ICETOOL should not matter, the results should be the same. Is this assumption valid? IMS/DLI PreProcessor
I am in the process of moving an IMS application from VSE to Z/os. The system I am working on does NOT have the latest Cobol Compiler, hence no integrated transltors. I have a number of programs BATCH and CICS that use the EXEC DLI ... construct. I am looking for the DLI preprocessor that converts the EXEC ... commands. All of the manuals I have refer to the DLI/CICS Option of the Compiler. TIA Crl __ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Adrdssu Reorg of KSDS files
I have a client that wants to move from Faver to ADRDSSU. A question arose re the reorging of VSAM files. The question is. Using ADRDSSU for Backup and Restore, will the files be reorged on the Retore? The manual states fairly clearly that using ADRDSSU to COPY files will reult in a reorg, could not find same thing for a Restore. TIA Carl Bored stiff? Loosen up... Dorting multiple VSAM and PS files
I have recently migrated a small VSE system to Z/os. evrything went well with one exception. The VSE Sort program was able to sort a variety of files, mixed SAM and VSAM in one pass. This is not supported in Z/OS (DFSORT). I can write an E15 exit to handle this, but I am somewhat amazed that this cabability does not exist in Z/os. Has anyone else encounterd this issue? AFP Printing on VM from Z/os
We are trying to print AFP reports routed from our Z/os system to a VM system. The data prints as does the overlay, however we are not getting the fonts as defined by the TRC, hence the data and the overlay do not line up. It appears that the TRC setting is not being recognized. BTW. If we upload the data directly to the VM system and print, it comes out file.
