initiator
Good morning all. I have a problem I would like to put out here and see if anybody else has seen it. The last couple of days I am having a batch job issue the message 'ief099i' waiting for datasets. The wait is being caused by an initiator that has not freed a dataset. In last night's case a job executed at 21:30 and ended successfully. The other job started to execute at 23:45 and issued the message. The local fix is to purge the initiator of the job that is holding the dsn. Leave it up all the time and do the roll mode on the weekends. Anything that is in error does get picked up by automation, typically just an email. Zos 1.9
Last weekend we converted to zos 1.9 with only the following problem. When the programmers use 'sibbatch', while processing an ksds, there is a extra data extent created, that is not cataloged. Since these are orphaned, It does not take long to fill up a sms pool where they reside. If we use 'adrdssu', the problem does not occur. The hardware is v2xf. Any thoughts or ideas? Like 10 - 20 longer (!) on a massively configured production LPAR vs. even a puny little sandbox. Diagnostic data--sorry I don't remember the mechanism--point to GRS. The one obvious difference was that the problem system was the only full parallel sysplex *not* using GRS star. This system had been sysplexed some time earlier in order to debug some DB2 issues, but the 'other' member was not being IPLed on a regular basis. In other words, a single parallel sysplex capable system running in practice by itself in GRS ring mode. Taking the duh! approach, we converted the problem system/sysplex to GRS star. The GRS delays disappeared immediately, making the system look just like all the rest. Just another thing to look at. . . Sounds like there might be a (non-display?) protected field on the screen with the MDT set (a technique once known as "using the screen for temp storage"). I can't think of any other way that a just-received TIOA would contain "baggage". -jc- -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the message: GET IBM-MAIN INFO Search the archives at http://bama.ua.edu/archives/ibm-main.html
TIOA problem
I have a transaction that does a 'receive' for when it begins execution. All transactions in this region go through a single program, then are xctl'd to the other programs. In 1 transaction only, the tioa somehow is always getting the same string added. When the router type program sees this, he sends the transaction on a different path. I have dumped the programs involved, used xpeditor, used traces. When the first transaction goes to 'exec cics return', there is nothing there. When the second transaction kicks off, it is. Any help or pointers on finding this would be greatly appreciated.
