Re: CF Structure Sizing

2011-04-11 Thread Mohd Shahrifuddin
Dear Barbara,

Thank you very much for your reply.

Only this one IMS structure failing.

X'B400' in size of the structure is : size()

The latest changes we upgrade our CF from z9 to z10. (2094 to 2097)

You don't supply which of the many IMS structures is actually failing, but
the message is telling you that it needs x'CE00' 4k blocks. Not quite
doubling the size (as you've done), gave you 700 more blocks. You need
x'B400' more blocks, so increase accordingly.
This is a substantial increase in size. Did it work before? If so, what has
changed?

but not help. Below some information may be can help me to analyst and
calculate how big size do I need.

Problem:
Before increase

LKS REQUIRED =0CE00, ALLOCATED=01A00

after increase

Okay,
This shouldn't be too difficult to determine.
first, when you notice the HIGH CPU, what other address spaces are also
showing HIGH CPU, there will probably be at least one.
second, can you check your RMF III reports and see if there are any enqueues
at the time, and who they are for I would be most intrested in contention
for SYSZIGW3 IGWSHC02 resources if they exist (if so I have your answer).
third, Have you discovered what actual programs are involved at the time, is
this a standard IDCAMS job or is it a user written program of some sort that
is performing the functions.
I'm not sure about your expertise level, but the next step (if nothing came
out of the above questions) would be a GTF trace so that we can see what we
are doing. Depending on the answers to the above, you should be able to
code, or I could give you the parms necessary to perform the trace.
If you are familiar with using the trace results then you're golden and the
cause should be relatively easy to find (a fix might be a little more
difficult).
I'm fairly certain that I have seen your problem before. let me know what
your results are to the above.

Dear Terry and others,

Thank you very much to answer my question.

Is this a one off event or have you had several times?
I can say everytime we submit the VSAM delete define job.

Is it always the same job?
Not same job several delete define VSAM file

What sort of VSAM dataset is it? How big is it?
KSDS VSAM file. Not big only 1 track record only 1 or 2 records.

Do you have RACF erase on scratch turned on for it? If so, and the data set
is big, the delete will take a long time writing binary zeros over it.

3. If we need to IPL OS/390 or shutdown CICS system regularly? (i.e Once a

HSM recall overwrite other dataset

2005-09-12 Thread Mohd Shahrifuddin
Hi Listers,

Two Question:
1. Environment
z/OS v1.4
SMS v1.3.
Running Parallel Sysplex
Shared DASD between 2 sysplex
2 SMS SCDS
1 catalog
We implement HSM in 1 sysplex. First phase we cutover 2 storage groups
migration, backup and dump. When the dataset is migrate another sysplex
show migrated. We recall from the HSM sysplex but some how in another
sysplex is overwrite other dataset. Is possible or not? Please advice or
if there any fix or patch?

2. In Manual z/OS v1.3 DFDSSdfp Storage Administration reference SC26-7402-
01
1.5 Running SMS in a Parallel Sysplex Environment

An SMS complex consists of systems or system groups that share a common
configuration. A Parallel Sysplex is made up of systems that share
a cross-system coupling facility (XCF); you can run multiple SMS complexes
within a Parallel Sysplex.

Restrictions:

An SMS complex should not span sysplexes. All of the volumes in the SMS
complex should be in the same Parallel Sysplex. The cross-system
sharing functions, such as VSAM record-level sharing (RLS), partitioned
data set extended (PDSE) sharing, RACF(TM) security and global
shared resources (GRS) serialization, only work within the scope of a
single Parallel Sysplex. These functions are not supported when the
SMS complex extends beyond the Parallel Sysplex in which they are
carried out.

Do not set up multiple SMS complexes sharing the same DASD. This
requires extra work to maintain the duplicate SMS configurations and
can also create problems such as running out of disk space because one
configuration cannot know about changes made to the other
configuration, such as data set allocations and deletions, and storage
group and volume status changes.

Mean we cannot shared dasd with two SMS SCDS in 2 sysplex? Please advice
about my understanding. If happen like this what should I do? If need to
fall back to non-sms managed in shared DASD between 2 sysplex.
