I implemented the Application Manager portion of it when TSO/E first came out. Application Manager provides a vehicle for deploying and managing ISPF applications that I've found effective and easy to use, lo these many years. If so, I think one of our business units may have been using it but not so any more. I'd have to ask someone. Why do you ask? Is ICF the same "Information Center" as in the Eclipse-based doc viewing cr..., uhr, system? If so, I had to use it as part of a beta program (the things IBM used to call ESPs). That was the only way the product's doc was provided. But that system called itself "IBM Help System" so it may not be what you are asking about. The only thing I liked was a fairly good multi-doc search facility, and that was negated by my never figuring out how to limit the search to the one manual I was reading. (I'm sure the capability was there. I just never found it.) As near as I can tell this was just another way of presenting all of BookManager's inconveniences to the user (but with IBM using someone else's implementation). Luckily I was able to get to a PDF copy of each manual from within the system. Re: ICF - Information Center Facility
I have used it and find it terrible. It is good for searching for a reference, but when you are used to having the book (or its digital counterpart) in hand, I absolutely hate ICF. It slow (Eclipse, JAVA based), and does not present information in book format. Even Softcopy Reader is far better. Long Live Library Reader and Book Manager format! We moved a small z/800 to the US from Switzerland a few years ago. They had used ICF. We left it in place. Regards, Listen. Think. Solve.
