zEnterprise Use Cases
The use cases are starting to appear... At the same time IBM unveiled the recent use cases, it also offered some details on zEnterprise and hybrid computing adoption. For example, approximately 100 organizations took zBX cabinets and over 950 blades have been shipped. Last fall that number stood at around 80 zBX cabinets shipped. And despite weak sales performance in the Q411, the amount of z MIPS shipped in 2011 still grew 16%. Also, a full complement of zBX blades now are shipping: POWER7, System x blades for Linux and for Windows, and specialized blades like the IDAA and DataPower. http://dancingdinosaur.wordpress.com/2012/01/27/zenterprise-use-cases-start-rolling-in/ -- Edward E Jaffe Phoenix Software International, Inc 831 Parkview Drive North El Segundo, CA 90245 310-338-0400 x318 edja...@phoenixsoftware.com http://www.phoenixsoftware.com/ -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@bama.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN

Interesting article Ed. Do you know where the author got his info on the number of new mainframe sites added the last two years? I was under the impression IBM was tight lipped about the number of sites and such. --Dave - Original Message - From: Edward Jaffe edja...@phoenixsoftware.com Newsgroups: bit.listserv.ibm-main To: IBM-MAIN@bama.ua.edu Sent: Saturday, January 28, 2012 9:12 AM Subject: zEnterprise Use Cases The use cases are starting to appear... I know you were not there, but you should have a PDF of his presentation. I suspect IBM is giving the very same information to analysts, large customers and everyone else that attends their quarterly marketing calls... -- Edward E Jaffe Phoenix Software International, Inc 831 Parkview Drive North El Segundo, CA 90245 310-338-0400 x318 edja...@phoenixsoftware.com http://www.phoenixsoftware.com/ -- For IBM-MAIN subscribe / signoff / archive access instructions, send email to lists...@bama.ua.edu with the message: INFO IBM-MAIN
