Ok thanks

Basically

3 commands or calls

1) 'Open ipaddress port'
 2) 'userid password'
 3) 'put filename'

Thanks

Re: A Programing language called Scala?

2016-09-09 Thread Charles Mills
I've been thinking about your question since you posed it.

I was tempted to respond with a facile answer: "Why do we need light bulbs, Mr.
Edison? People are still not using gas lamps to their full potential."

I think a programming language may be thought of as a black box or machine. The
inputs are human talent and effort. The output is a computer program that is
hopefully the solution to some business problem.

We are all aware of business problems that have not been amenable to a
programmatic solution, and of many attempts to apply the computer language
machine to a business problem with poor results. Some people are unhappy with
the amount of effort that must be put into the machine to produce a
satisfactory output.

What is the answer? Well, certainly one answer would be to blame the inputs.

But others say "we are going to design a different machine that hopefully does
a better job of turning human talent and effort into solutions."

I for one applaud those efforts.

Charles

Why do we need more programming languages. Progr as mmer have not yet learned
all they could about the existing ones.

Kinda sort of look like the same thing, or what JCL would be if there wasn't

Query for Destination z website: What advice would you give your former self?

2016-09-09 Thread Gabe Goldberg
Times change but lessons learned and insights gained can often
timelessly apply equally to younger generations. And we've all had
moments of "If I'd only known then what I know now". So: What advice
would you give your younger self, back then?

Might this include job/career options/choices, technology insights, work
habits, geography, finances, or ...?

To what past age would you offer yourself advice? (within your working
life, please)?

Did you receive advice that you ignored but that, in hindsight, you wish
you'd followed, or at least better understood?

Is there advice you now wish you'd received "back then" which would NOT
apply now?

For extra credit, describe how you'd have reacted to the advice you wish
you'd received.

Remember, this isn't advice you'd give to anyone NOW, it's what you'd
tell your long-ago younger self about your job/career, technology, the
industry, etc.

Please copy replies to me directly so they're not buried in list digest.

Please include your name and affiliation so I needn't request it. And
remember, this is for publication -- though I can likely paraphrase
what's said if you'd rather be anonymous.

Thanks.

Re: EZAFTPKS

2016-09-09 Thread Farley, Peter x23353
Joseph,

I think you are looking for how to actually send commands to the FTP server.
Try this chapter, " Sending requests to the FTP client API ":

https://www.ibm.com/support/knowledgecenter/SSLTBW_2.1.0/com.ibm.zos.v2r1.halx001/calls.htm

The SCMD request (subcommand) is where you actually pass FTP command lines like
"OPEN hostaddr" or "USERID name" or "PASS password". So the answer to your
question is that you don't pass that information in the control block but in
the parameters you pass to the SCMD request.

HTH

Peter

Userid cl8

The EZAFTPKS just had a description
FCAI control block request ( I guess in my case that would be put ). Parm, parm

Very vague

The example just had a init command

Multi-Factor Authentication

2016-09-09 Thread Steve
Is anyone aware of a UNIFIED solution that will address Multi-Factor
Authentication produce that will support the features that are available in
CYBERVAULT for elevated privilege ID’s and non-elevated elevated privilege
ID’s, and has the provisioning features as are available in Centrify.
CYBERARCH and Centrify do well on some things but they don’t talk.

Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Re: [IBMTCP-L] Measuring Hipersocket traffic

2016-09-09 Thread Jake Anderson
Hello,

Cross Posted

I ran SMF 73 report for CHPID Hipersocket I do not see any activity whereas
I am pretty sure based on the NETSTAT on hipersocket I see there are values
generated for OUTBOUND and INBOUND packets.

For a comparison i ran SMF 73 on FICONS CHPID i got some utilization but
not generated for HIPERSOCKET CHPID.

So basically where does the HIPERSOCKET CHPID logs its SMF records if not
SMF 73 ?
