WebSphere for z/OS mailing list?

2019-06-26 Thread Klein, Kevin
Long time z/OS systems guy.

I got to take over WebSphere installation/upgrading awhile back.
I managed to get through an 8.5.5.5 to 8.5.5.12 upgrade.
Now I'm trying to get to 9.0.0.9 (whole other animal).

Does anyone know if there is a mail list similar to this one for WebSphere?
If there is one for WebSphere for z/OS, even better.
I'm hoping to benefit from others experience with an 8.5 to 9.0 upgrade.

What happens when you type part of the command in the OMVS command line and end
it with backslash (\)?

Is there a panel in ishell for entering long commands?

Subject: TSO OMVS Command area

I've been looking for an answer to this for the better part of 2 days.

When I enter TSO OMVS on my ISPF screen, is there a way to make the command
area larger than 2 lines.

I have a long command I want to enter that doesn't fit on the two lines I
currently have.

Apologies is this is a basic ?; I don't spend a lot of time on the USS side of
z/OS.

WebSphere for z/OS Formal Education

2018-07-31 Thread Klein, Kevin
I've been tasked to support for our WebSphere for z/OS systems(through
attrition).
I currently have limited experience with this product.
I'm submitting this to see if anyone can recommend some good training classes
for WebSphere for z/OS?

Most of the classes I see are more of an entry level, but I think I'm beyond
that level.
We are running on 8.5.5.12 right now.
One of the first things I'm supposed to do is an upgrade to either current
8.5.5.x maintenance or to V9(if apps will get of Java V6).
I'm a long-time mainframer, so it would be nice if some of the web terminology
and/or terms were not assumed to be known beforehand.
Yes, I see the contradiction.

LDAP Browser/Admin Utility

2014-09-17 Thread Klein, Kevin
z/OS 1.13 using Tivoli Directory Server LDAP.

This is more of a What are other companies doing? question. We started
using LDAP about a decade ago when it was still under Security Server. I found
a freeware version of an LDAP browser/admin tool back then and it has more or
less been our company standard since.

We're starting to get into heavier use of our LDAP and are starting to have
some misgivings about using a freeware tool to maintain what is becoming a
mission-critical database/app/repository. Not to a point, mind you, where we'd
be willing to spend money on something.

This post is to poll other z/OS (TDS) users to ask what you're using to for
your LDAP tool(s)? I know there are several free/shareware tools out there for
this type of work.

Put another way, I got the following from my mgmt., I find it hard that IBM
did not ship product with some user admin presentation side to administer the
repository.
