The problem I had with it was that there doesn't seem to be any way to
order maintenance for an FMID (or product) until *after* it has been
applied. I would have much preferred to have applied all maintenance
along with the FMID, particularly since there were ++IFREQs against the
FMID that wanted to prevent us from applying the FMID without the PTFs
that we couldn't get until after the FMID had been applied, but couldn't
be with out the PTFs that couldn't be obtained until after the apply,
which couldn't be done until... etc.

That tells me why you want to install (APPLY) PTFs for a single FMID.
It does not answer my question of why you feel it necessary to order
and receive PTFs only for that FMID.
At the risk of beating a dead horse, I'll say you are missing the
point I and others are trying to make. You can order and RECEIVE all
PTFs, but then you can install (APPLY) only the PTFs for the FMID you
desire, using FORFMID on the APPLY. There is no harm in having PTFs
in your global zone that you don't intend to install, yet. After all,
you will have a maintenance cycle eventually, and you will need to
APPLY those PTFs eventually, right?
