Various answers:
o Get a better mailer; one that doesn't screw with your formatting;
smart-quote; etc.
o Post via the web interface. It seems to respect one's formatting. Long
lines and non-ASCII characters such as "π" may result in Q-P encoding. But
that's revertible.
o Add a fictitious ".txt" extension to your file (e.g. program.JCL.txt) and
post it as an attachment. Once I posted a MIME-encoded binary file using a
technique such as that and successfully decoded it when I received it.
