FYI,

when we looked at the Apache server we found the MVSDS service we havely use is
not supported at all.
There are indications this support will be available in 8.5 but we did not get
any information when this version will be ordable as part of Ported Tools.

What Norbert said: the Ported Tools version is what you want (HHAP700).

As for your second question Is it worth to migrate. I would say that it
is worth it to migrate from the HTTP Server based on Domino to the one
based on Apache. Apache is the industry standard, and quite honestly, the
one based on Domino is very outdated. Plus I believe IBM's direction is
that they are no longer doing enhancements of any type to the old HTTP
Server, so you're better off on the one based on Apache.

Apache is the current industry standard. But a lot of Apache shops are
strongly looking at nginx to replace it. It is said to be faster (using
less RAM and CPU), easier to set up, and more secure. I'm just echoing what
I've heard. I have not set up a nginx server, but have set up an Apache
server on Linux/Intel. I use the old HTTPD (Domino) on z/OS because I see
no reason to convert, given that z/OS is an obsolete POS which we want to
eliminate.

Hmmm... z is not listed among the tested platforms. So:

o Might it be EBCDIC-friendly? (I hate EBCDIC.)

Even though free, still has to be licensed. The cost is $0.

Oddly enough I was looking at this today since z/OS 2.1 is planned to be the
last release to include the old IBM HTTP Server (Domino).

This is supposed to be available at no cost, right? But in my Shopz this shows
as not licensed. Anyone has an idea why?

Thanks,

Order the HTTP server feature of Ported Tools (FMID HHAP700). JIWO610 is an

Hmmm... z is not listed among the tested platforms. So:

o Might it be EBCDIC-friendly? (I hate EBCDIC.)

o Might it be legacy data set-friendly?

o Might it be compatible with the C compiler Enhanced ASCII option. I can

Just out of curiosity, as I have more experience with Apache than Domino
(although I did support some web applications running on the old HTTP
Server for about a year before I convinced them to upgrade to IHS 7...),
what is it about Domino that you prefer to Apache (or IBMs implementation

Yeah. Actually, I prefer the older server for a few reasons (which I
