Re: ISPF Allocation CLIST that does WRITE messages

2021-12-15 Thread Attila Fogarasi
Excellent point Tom ... some session managers will suppress messages. For
example TPX defaults to suppressing messages if an ACL script is defined
for that logon and is running. Pretty easy to activate a script, even by
mistake, and the messages will disappear (unless the script chooses to
display them). If problem is only for 1 specific user, their session
manager usage is a good culprit.

Re: ISPF Allocation CLIST that does WRITE messages

2021-12-12 Thread Tom Brennan
Have you been able to watch their screen when they logon? Maybe the
messages are appearing but the user has something that clears the screen
or similar after they arrive. I'm not sure what that might be unless
you let them run their own logon clist after yours. Or maybe a logon
script in the terminal emulator. Just wild guessing...

Listers -

I have a user asking why the ISPF Allocation Messages we produce at logon is
not showing up on their screen

I know the LOGON Panel can set somethings to NOMAIL NONOTICES

I know that the TSO PROF can also suppress some messages - WTPMSG, INTERCOM,
etc

I have tried several iterations on these settings.

I have not found the combination of settings that prevents the user from
seeing my write messages (at least that is what is being reported)

I have used my own tso id and did different settings. I have not found a
combination that produces what they are reporting

Anything else I can look at

I thought maybe LISTB might be in play, but a user does not have the ability
to override my Logon CLIST.

Any other suggestions appreciated.

Does the user want messages or want no messages?

I have found nicer control with Rexx BPXWDYN(). By default messages are
returned in stem S99MSG. to be processed ad lib.

If Rexx solves the problem but the user insists on CLIST, the user is a hopeless
masochist.
