Latin occupies a peculiar position. Microsoft Word does not, for example, recognize its existence. One cannot, that is, specify that a document or a quotation in a document is written in latin. Terabytes of latin text are, however, readily available on the net; and bilingual text has been plentiful for generations. Examples are the Loeb Classical Library, which contains the latin text and English translations of it for most classical authors, the Budé collection, which instead contains latin text and French translations, etc., etc. Google could improve its translations of Latin text readily if it wished or, perhaps better, judged that it needed to do so.
