send me a note or you can go to the web site to get information on the

If you replace CA-7 by Control-M, you can/should replace CA-11 by Control-R.

We are planning to replace our CA products with similar products from other
vendors.  Listed below are the replacements we are investigating.   Any
recommendations for different software than what we have identified and/or
user experiences in the following migrations would be appreciated.

We plan to migrate each of these CA products to the listed product:
ACF2 -   IBM RACF (we have had RACF on some LPARs)
 CA-1 -   IBM DFSMS RMM
 PMO -  IBM LLA
 QFETCH -   IBM VLF
 Platinum DB2 tools -   IBM DB2 tools

We plan to investigate these candidate products as replacements:
CA-7 -  BMC Control-M, Tivoli Workload Scheduler, ASG Zeke
CA-11 -   Tivoli Workload Scheduler, ASG Zebb
Easytrieve -   PSG Z-Writer, IBM Migration Utility
 Panvalet/PanAPT -   ISPW, SCLM, RDZ

 Thank you,

or replace both CA-7 and CA-11 with TWS. There is an easy, proven
conversion solution that goes along with it. Talk to your IBM salesreps and
ask them to talk with the TWS lab in Rome. They can give you more details.

For Panvalet/PanAPT, in addition to SCLM you might (also) consider IBM
Rational ClearCase or Rational Team Concert. IBM has three solid choices in
that general category. RDz and ISPF work with all of them.

If you're a CICS Transaction Server shop then CICS Configuration Manager
may be relevant if you have a lot of developer deploy/test cycles into
CICS, particularly for complex applications.

Mitch,
As an example, IBM does not have an internal solution but instead uses other
vendors.

I dont know where you get that information. My recent past and present
experience is that IBM has a strong presence in this area - The SMPO (Systems
Migration Project Office) provides strong and experienced services in this area.

I am not saying they always do it themselves - I also know they can contract
out ..

John:

Good morning.

some interesting choices. Please contact me offline as I have a number of
partners/solutions that can automate the replacements for you. As an example,

ACF2 to RACF
CA1 to DFSMS/rmm
CA7 to TWS*
CA11 to TWS*
CA-Panvalet to ISPW (or SysChange)

If you have any other ASG or CA products you would like to replace, let me
know. If you don't have a full function JCL and batch management tool suite,
let's talk. If you have any legacy database environments you may be
considering modernizing (i.e. SAG Adabas), I can help you there, too.

* I would strongly recommend with staying away from any ASG product.

With Regards,

Your Destination vendor will have appropriate services and tools for your
migration.
Be sure to ask about them. The vendors are there to help make you
successful.

I didn't see automation products on your list but we have replaced over 100 CA
installed sites with our Automation software. Not only is our software less
than 5 to 10% of the CA cost, we are also much better in many areas. You can
view the software at www.SyzygyInc.com .
