[Ilugc] DNS Zone File Clarification - BIND
Good Day, I'm setting up a DNS server using BIND. I have a small clarification to make. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BIND9ServerHowto#Alias%20Records The above link says that you cannot point one CNAME record to another. Which means: ns A10.10.5.5 www CNAME ns test CNAME www is illegal, right? The wikipedia article has an example for the contents of the zone file, which has a CNAME pointing to another CNAME. I'm a bit confused.. Please help. Can you also point me to the right RFC to look into ?? I'm looking at RFC 1035 but can't find any reference to this. hi, I'm having some trouble with the instalation of mysql. When I'm run mysqladmin this returns a message telling that could not find the file /var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock. I've serched for this file in my computer and not found in anywhere. Are you sure. is it mysql server had already installed in your system. If so try to start it again. if it is fedora based distro say service mysqld start others /etc/init.d/mysql[d] start then you can try the mysqladmin command 2. Himesh, Reliance data card is mounted as a mass storage device in Ubuntu. people says you can tweek it to get it working. But I dint succeed with that. A bit of explanation: chmod 4xxx will set what is called setuid on execution. That means when the programme is run it will be run as owner of the file, even though started by anybody else. sudo should run as root to do most of function and hence set with setids. I had fixed the same problem for my friend previously. I had searched google and found out that you have to enable a module (using modprobe), but I have forgotten the details.
