[Ilugc] hackf...@shaastra2010: From IIT Madras
Hello everyone, My apologies for the spam, but just in case you can spare some time this September end/October beginning, here is a message from the IITM LUG about our biggest FOSS event. Regards, Kirtika B R IITM LUG === Hi! It's time to get ready for the largest (and only) FOSS event at Shaastra 2010, the annual technical fest of IIT Madras. We, from the Shaastra team, proudly present to you 'Hackfest'... What is Hackfest all about? Hackfest is more than a FOSS event. To us, it's a movement to gather enthusiastic programmers together and get them on the tracks of open source development. It teaches them the sleight of the developer's hand and gives them a chance to peek into the world of development. Hackfest's Objective: Our primary objective is to help the participants take their first steps into the world of contribution to open source. Past glories: Over the past two years Hackfest has been a fantastic way to gather enthusiastic programmers together and get them started on contributing to open source projects. It gave an opportunity for the participants to learn what separates developers from regular users and coders and to interact with the Indian open source community. In the previous editions of the Hackfest, participants have fixed bugs and have even got patches! This has had a lasting effect; some of the participants have enthusiastically begun to contribute to their favorite Open Source projects, and are participating in this year's GSoC. What's new this year? This year, Hackfest is back with a lot of new stuff to offer. Some of the projects that the participants will be hacking on this year are Google Android, Gnome, KDE, Git, Kernel, Mozilla and Minix. Registrations are open. Please hurry up and register @ http://www.shaastra.org/2010/userportal/events/register/Hackfest (You will need to create an account on the Shaastra userportal first) For more information, visit http://www.shaastra.org/2010/main/events/coding/hack_fest Hope to see you there! Price points are @ Rs. 6K, the starter cartridge gives about 1500 pages which should last you for about 4 years and you don't have to worry about cartridges drying up.
