[Ilugc] [OT][COMMERCIAL] Troubleshooting a newly assembled gaming PC

2013-09-25 Thread Manokaran K
Hi all,

My nephew recently bought components on flipkart to assemble a gaming PC.

1. Intel Core i5 3579
2. ASRock Z77 Extreme 3 Mobo
3. 2x4GB RAM
4. Sapphire AMD/ATI HD 7870 2GB GDDR5 Flex Edition 2 GB GDDR5 Graphics Card

Unfortunately when we assembled it and switched it on, the system beeped 5
times. Looks like this indicates a processor error! I would like to know if
any of you know a professional assembler who can perhaps use a different
processor and see if the problem is really with it or it is the mother
board!

Need to find which is the offending component so it can be sent back for
replacement.

Thanks very much,
mano

for starting an activity/company/project you need capital and that's
exactly you are soliciting, people put money when the
company/project/activity is already started and working.

when FSF started RMS never asked for money , Linus also started the same
way , why look around when we have stories like Anand Babu , who never
solicited money for his project gluster its was later transformed into
company and people put there money in.

i think people would be more perceptive to the idea like if you have said
i am starting a cooperative , think the way Amul dairy was started.

There is nothing called 'certified hacking' in the F/OSS circles.

People appreciate other hackers for the cleverness and brilliance of
their work, and how they push technology to the forefronts. One's work
should speak for itself, not a certificate.

Please don't send such e-mails to the list.

For those who are reading this mail for the first time:
I developed a website called 'Rummy' - http://rummy.openbala.com as a
pet project. This was a cricket game based on World Cup 2011 matches.

It had its run, now I'm working on the site for IPL. The website was
developed on Ruby on Rails. This mail is to say that the source code
of the site is open and it is available in github. (And I'll keep
checking-in new code as and when I commit to Heroku for IPL)

And BTW, please checkout the website you have not done so already - it
has an anonymous login for browsing as well - no need to have a
Facebook or Twitter account.

My caution is a little paranoid, but can any legal expert in this list throw

Srini thanks,

This is deployed on Heroku and it is based on a git repository. So, I
can mirror/fork or host it in my github and share.

As Arun said, the API Id, key and secret are potentially abusable. In
fact, in my app I request for permission to post on their wall (to
inform that the results are out)
So, I've to hide those from the source code in the fork and show it
open. I shall do it soon. Thanks for the feedback.

 Thanks.

[Ilugc] [OT][Commercial] A World Cup game site

2011-02-19 Thread openbala
All,

I've a site created where the user chooses top 5 players per world cup
match and based on the player's performance - the user gets points and
ranked.

The site is : http://rummy.openbala.com

The site is developed on Ruby on Rails and deployed on Heroku.

P.S. - Even though the subject says [Commercial], it has nothing to do
with it. There are no ads. Only thing that you require is a facebook
account.
P.P.S. - I thought quite a lot before posting it in this forum, there
is nothing obviously related to 'free software' on this - please
consider this as a fellow LUG-gie's FYI.
P.P.P.S - I can give the source code to whoever is interested, please
contact me offline.
P.P.P.P.S - This site is dedicated to all you cricket lovers.

Thanks,
Balaji

If you are using Xen, this is not a big problem unless you want
to run Windows. You can still run fully paravirtualized kernels
like Linux, FreeBSD, OpenSolaris, etc, without any hardware VT
support.

See the Xen paravirtualization docs for the details.

Hmm.. cant understand how a programmer can translate design into
workable GUI untill he understands design ?

mechanical process - no need to understand design. Designer is looking
over the programmers shoulder to look after that. The mockup is done in
Gimp, sliced and translated into css by the programmer. Designer looks
at end result and gets it tweaked. No problem.

[Ilugc] [OT] [COMMERCIAL] Get listed for FREE in India's first Yellow Pages for FOSS Linux firms

2008-12-16 Thread Atanu Datta
Hey all!

Posting some information that's being sent out LFY's advt/sales department.
You may find it handy

Best,
Atanu

---

Here's an opportunity for FOSS consultants and firms to get FREE publicity
through LINUX For You!

Our interaction with IT managers has revealed that one of the biggest
obstacles faced by them while reviewing FOSS solutions is lack of information
about potential solution providers. It seems that if they had multiple
options, they would feel more comfortable in discussing their challenges with
different solution providers, and thus having the confidence that they were
taking an informed decision.

To bridge this gap, LINUX For You has been working on creating a Yellow Pages
section within the magazine itself, where anyone seeking a Linux/FOSS solution
provider can find them through a category-wise listing. In the last 2-3
months, we have managed to collate a list of over 50 solution providers. But,
we believe that there are many more out there, and the real value of FOSS
Yellow Pages (FYP) will only emerge once decision makers have ample choice to
work with.

THUS, THE SPECIAL OFFER: Any firm**, be it a one-man consultancy or an MNC,
can get listed for FREE under any ONE category of their choice. This offer is
open till 31st December 2008 or till we reach our goal of listing 100 firms in
FYP. This free listing will be applicable till March 2009, and could be
extended if things work out well. Oh! The Yellow Pages listing will also be
made available online, shortly.

To enlist your organisation for FREE, you can download the form from
http://www.openitis.com/fyp/ [Please ignore the tariff mentioned in the FYP
leaflet -- those are applicable to only those who want to enlist under
additional categories.] If you have doubts or queries, please feel free to
call Dhiraj Khare at 011-26810601 or 02 or 03 (extn: 230) -- he will be more
than happy to facilitate your entry.

Hope to keep playing a role in growing the India FOSS ecosystem with your
support...

Yours truly,
LINUX For You Sales Marketing Team

**To ensure that firms listed in FYP are genuine, we will seek one of the
following:
(a) proof of incorporation of the firm, or
(b) proof of a current account for the firm
