Hi All I am from Yahoo. Currently we are looking for senior Linux or unix administrators with the following experience Exp : 6-20 yrs(For Senior Positions) Skills: Perl/Shell Scripting Must. V.Good on Linux/Unix OS Concepts. About the team: About the team :: Advertisements is the main source of revenue for Yahoo. Ads can be graphical or displayed through search results. Yahoo is the market leader for Display/Banner Ads which is the graphical image ads that we see on the Yahoo Property pages. Since Ads are of different types like static images, Flash Ads, Smart Ads, Rich Media Ads etc, there are various teams responsible for collecting data regarding these ads and processing it. The MME Data team collects the logs and data about how many people viewed the Ads for each of the Yahoo properties, clicked on it etc and generates reports so that properties can see it and customers can be billed accordingly. It uses CSC Beacon technology which is IAB (Internet Advertising Bureau) certified. There are Audits also since these data is used for revenue purpose. Since almost all of the Servers are on Unix/Linux Platform, we need people who are well versed in Unix concepts. The databases used on the backend are Mysql and Oracle. Since the team members closely work with other teams like Network, Storage etc, they need to be familiar with Networking ,System Admin and Storage technologies and concepts so that they can interact intelligibly with the other teams. We continually enhance and write tools for automation and improving the data collection pipeline and hence scripting skills in Shell / Perl is required. [ilugd] Open source hardware
Hi, An interesting read: http://www.wired.com/techbiz/startups/magazine/16-11/ff_openmanufacturing talking about a variety of open-source hardware including the Arduino serial interface board, Linksys routers, and telephone routers. It seems like this could be the start of another area for open source to dominate in, and provide solutions that could not otherwise be arrived at. We have been kicking around these ideas, and have an Arduino board, and a Lego robotics kit (with a damaged brain) to play with. Haven't had much time to devote to these, but if people are interested, please do feel free to talk to us at Sarai. Now sir the title which you talk about is very appropriate because since the ways were unethical Google had to change the cookie policy in 2 years duration. The question you ask me ..
