This guest user has similar permissions/access rights like any generic user.
However, nothing is saved on the disk. Once the user logs out, whatever the

Not sure if you want similar functionality for user. May be you can try it

[ilugd] Free ONLINE Drupal Training commencing August 10, 2010

2010-08-01 Thread Sidharth Kshatriya
NoParrots.com free Drupal trainings have been so far restricted to Delhi
NCR, India. They have been a great success. Our meetup group at
http://drupal-delhi.noparrots.com is already 100+ members large and we have
had 6 meetups so far. During these 6 meetings we have introduced Drupal
fundamentals. Its been a fun and humbling experience to have so many of you
come to my training center in Gurgaon every Sunday afternoon and listen to
me teach you a little bit of Drupal

But I've received calls and emails from people all the way from Kerala and
Bangalore to know if I offer online training. Starting from today, the
answer is Yes!

I'm happy to announce that starting from August 10th, 2010 (Tuesday) we'll
have free ONLINE Drupal training. Every week I intend to teach Drupal
fundamentals from 9 pm - 11 pm (Indian Standard Time). We'll try to keep it
on Tuesdays. For details please keep visiting http://www.noparrots.com and
http://drupal-delhi.noparrots.com

*If you have a broadband internet connection and an internet browser you
should be able to listen to my lectures and see me share my computer screen
as I demonstrate how to build websites in Drupal.*

As usual, I'll try to keep each session as independent as possible to the
previous one. You don't need any special programming knowledge to understand
Drupal.

*How can you join Free Online Drupal Training?*

   - Register yourself at http://drupal-delhi.noparrots.com
   - Say that you will be joining a particular meeting by RSVPing Yes on
   the meeting date
   - At the meeting time, join us at https://my.dimdim.com/learn_drupal (note
that the URL https and not http)

*What is Drupal?*
*
*
*Drupal is a CMS (Content Management System), similar to Wordpress or Joomla
that allows you to rapidly build sophisticated and great looking websites.
The US President's website http://www.whitehouse.gov is a great example of a
website made in Drupal. Drupal itself is build on the PHP language (like
Facebook).

[ilugd] [OT][Announcement] web3.0 mailing list

2010-08-01 Thread Arulalan T
Dear All,

Greetings .!.

Do you have awareness about web3.0 ?

The Semantic Web is a web of data. There is lots of data we all use
every day, and it is not part of the web.
I can see my bank statements on the web, and my photographs, and I can
see my appointments in a calendar.
But can I see my photos in a calendar to see what I was doing when I
took them? Can I see bank statement lines in a calendar?

Why not? Because we don't have a web of data. Because data is
controlled by applications, and each application keeps it to itself.

Humans are capable of using the Web to carry out tasks such as finding
the Irish word for directory, reserving a library book, and
searching for a low price for a DVD. However, one computer  cannot
accomplish all of these tasks without human direction,
because web pages are designed to be read by people, not machines.

The semantic web is a vision of information that is understandable by
computers, so computers can perform more of the tedious work
involved in finding, combining, and acting upon information on the web.

We are going to make web3.0 with the basics of semantic web.

Let us discuss about web3.0 in this mailing list.

Welcomes you to real data understandable by computer as data not as text !

- To join in the web3 mailing list, subscribe here
http://www.freelists.org/list/web3

What is the Semantic Web?

Where Web 2.0 is focused on people, the Semantic Web is focused on machines.
The Web requires a human operator, using computer systems to perform
the tasks required to find, search and aggregate its information.

It's impossible for a computer to do these tasks without human guidance
because Web pages are specifically designed for human readers.

The Semantic Web is a project that aims to change that by presenting
Web page data in such a way that it is understood by computers,
enabling machines to do the searching, aggregating and combining of
the Web's information — without a human operator. :-)

Hi Kartik,

Its easy man : following can be a good solution :
  - make a script which will only execute if the current logged in user
is guest and will clear the directories or whatever u want. then put its
entry in /etc/bashrc, you need to make sure that script is executable by
guest user or you can apply SUID on it

in case if you want i can prepare one for you.

Well I think the following can help you out.

 1) for having a guest account simply create a account with any name
(probably guest) that will never ask for password at login so you don't have
to tell the password to everyone (if u want that account to be for public
 use)

We have done the same as I have mentioned in my first post.

 2) for resetting home directories of users, you should put all your files
(which u want to be there in the home directory at every login) at some
different place and write a small bash/perl script to place them in user's
home directory at every login after deleting whatever was there in user's
 home directory.

Exactly what we want to do but how? How to execute that script
 automatically at login.
