[ilugd] FSF donation drive at GeekMeetup at Delhi/NCR #FSF #FreeSoftware
I will be speaking on 16 Jan 2011 on Why we should donate to FSF for 10 minutes. We are starting a donation drive for FSF on 16 Jan 2011 at Geek Meetup - Cash collected during meetup will be transferred of the Credit Card Holder the he will transfer money to FSF account during meetup itself using his credit card. Everything will happen on the stop itself so loopholes.. http://lug-iitd.org/Geek_meetup_-_16_Jan_2011#FSF_Donation_Drive Almost 50+ people are coming, one can donate from 50 INR to 5000 INR. It depends on your pocket money. So Lets make donation to one of the most important organization who is still fighting for digital freedom. If you are unable to attend the meetup and want to donate to FSF, then you do it online - https://my.fsf.org/donate/ -- ┌─┐ │ Narendra Sisodiya │ http://narendrasisodiya.com └─┘ ___ Ilugd mailing list Ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd

Since FSF India has no means to get donations in dollars, money sent out of the country cannot be spent in India. i recommend the donors to donate to FSF India, which can be used for programs within India. -- GN ___ Ilugd mailing list Ilugd@lists.linux-delhi.org http://frodo.hserus.net/mailman/listinfo/ilugd

More crucial question - does FSF Boston know about this drive? Since Nagarjuna did not know about this earlier, this is not with blessings of FSF-I. Obvious. That said, about 7-8 years back, we were discussing tying up with some agency for enabling online donations to FSF-I. Is that in place yet? More crucial question - does FSF Boston know about this drive? How does it matter - 5 hour before Parin donated $2 http://identi.ca/notice/62041901 How does it matters if RMS know about it, fsf.org has opened a donation drive like wikipedia. we are just trying to support. Since Nagarjuna did not know about this earlier, this is not with blessings of FSF-I. Obvious. I know quite a few who would rather volunteer and donate to FSF Boston rather than FSF-India. Its not a question of whom to donate. checkout fsf.org, many who want to donate do not have creditcard or account or sufficient motivation to donate like even 10 INR. So on workshop we are trying to collect money and submit on behalf of all of US. -- Mahesh T.
