I'm still a bit mixed- up, unfortunately, since the (minimal) two-iMac network I have is all from an AirPort Express whose only Ethernet port is being used to connect it to the cable-modem. Do I have to get a second router into the loop? Option 1 ask isp if they have a cable modem w/ built in router. What brand is your current modem? option 2 install a used (or new) router (I have 15 +/- routers if you can't find one locally) I tried that once before some years back and couldn't get everything to talk to everything else...something about the order of what was wired to where, before the wireless part kicked in. We can help set up router. Sorry to be dense about this stuff. Re: Atheros WiFi card drivers?
true, it didn't mention what OS it was for. What i'm missing is a schedule feature in the Energy Saver part of the System Prefrences tab, which keeps me from making my iMac into an alarm clock. i'm not sure if there is anything else missing at the moment, but a restore disk for my iMac would be wonderful. -Christian On Sat, Sep 19, 2009 at 10:31 AM, Bruce Johnson john...@pharmacy.arizona.edu wrote: On Sep 18, 2009, at 10:17 PM, Christian Wacker wrote: I have an old iMac G3 that i'm working on, and I want internet. I've seen a tutorial on how to edit a .kext file to allow me to add in my device ID in teh built in Atheros drivers, but I can't even locate the .kext on my system. I am running 10.2.8 and it doesn't anywhere have the IO80211family.kext where it should be. is there any reason for that? I also seem to be missing alot of functions, since this system was restored with a generic 10.2.8 disk, and not an iMac one (it has all the GFX card .kext files, and BlueTooth .kext files etc) All 'generic' OS X installer disks are fully universal, they support all Macs; there's no added *system* stuff on the iMac disks. What are missing are the bundled programs that come with the iMac. You're looking in System/Library/Extensions right? Did that tutorial specifically mention a version of the OS? Upgrading my iMac
I have the wireless issue solved. I purchased a WG111 V2 from a garage sale for $1 (yay) and NetGear has Mac drivers on their site... just one small problem I need OS 10.3.x I have the .dmg files I need to burn them.
