I have recorded this tree sp of about 8-12m during october this year.
It was totally leafless during the flowering. The flower resemblaces
with Elaeocarpus sp. It was photographed using 300 tele so the quality
 is not good enough.

2010-11-30 Thread Gurcharan Singh
Out of the two species of Sorbus (under Pyrus) described in FBI and Flora
Simlensis, it seems the group has now been split into many species with true
S. aucuparia not perhaps now represented in India. The inflorescence looks
reddish in colour but difficult to say whether it is simple colour or rusty
tomentum (in that case it would be S. foliolosa). Perhaps some one having
Flowers of Himalayas can help.

You could see the guitar-shaped leaves in E. sonchifolia. In addition, E.

Hi, Rashida ji,
I have checked up with Cicerbita macrantha. It doesn't match.
I think it matches with *Cicerbita macrorhiza* in Concise Flowers of
Himalayas.

If this is Cicerbita sp., than perhaps it should be Cicerbita macrantha,
please check diagram on Pg 199 of A. Stainton. The leaves seem to match.

 Rashida.
