Oh, OK, yes, I see the tree-fern now! But all tree ferns can only be
identified by studying the details of the hairs and scales underneath the
pinnules - plus the scales and armature of the stipe-base, not from
long-distance photos of the whole plant. So another unuseable photo I'm
afraid.
I seriously recommend that person to look in the standard literature
(Holttum and Piggott).

If the spur is puberulous, it could be Impatiens brevicornis (Barnes)
Bhaskar stat.nov. (= I. chinensis var. brevicornis Barnes). Pls see my
publication on 'Taxonomic monograph on Impatiens L. (*Balsaminaceae*) of
Western Ghats - p.124. 2012.

It is apparently Impatiens from section Oppositifoliae.
It could be I. chinensis, but I don't see shape of stem - in I. chinensis
it should be quadrangular.
As the specimen comes from southern India, best to ask Dr. Bhaskar.

Many thanks Dr. Wojciech for the key character of *I. chinensis*.

Putting here a cropped version of one of the above photos to get closer to
stem, which looks to me, more terete than quadrangular ...

[efloraofindia:195895] Re: Meconopsis robusta from Uttarakhand: Aug 2014_DSR_10

2014-08-07 Thread D.S Rawat
Prof Munshi Sir
Thank you for suggesting alternative ID to my Meconopsis.
M.simplicifolia, as per Flora of India Vol-2, is not known in Western
Himalaya. It is a smaller, polycarpic plant. Moreover, Checklist of
Flowering Plants of Uttarakhand also not mention M.simplicifolia. Here in
Uttarakhand we have two yellow flowered Meconopsis species only
(M.paniculata and M.robusta).
I will prefer to stick to my ID of M.robusta till I compare my specimens at
BSD.
Thank you for taking interest in this upload.

Leaves too were very large. Comparable to the size of pumpkin leaves.
I mentioned this comparison because I do not have a habit shot of the
