Re: [efloraofindia:246392] Cynoglossum sp. ABJUN01/18

2016-07-03 Thread Anil Thakur
Excellent details and beautiful clicks, Ashwini Ji

Flowers white with blue centre (C.lanceolatum and C. zeylanicum).
Your photographs are showing leaves with bulbous-based hairs. Flower
corolla-scales patent (spread out widely) and suborbicular (Sub-flat
with almost circular outline).

So, it is Cynoglossum lanceolatum
This key is from "FLORA OF CHAMBA" by Singh and Sharma

Re: [efloraofindia:246369] Urtica ardens/ABDEC10

2016-07-03 Thread Gurcharan Singh
Ashwini ji
I am afraid you may not have mixed up your plants.
Urtica dioica is distinct in free stipules, male and female flowers usually
on different plants, profuse stinging hairs

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/indiantreepix/Urtica$20dioica/indiantreepix/dZQk7CZJzHg/fbMKyTIG0pgJ

Those with connate stipules we should look for two types of plants

U. ardens with profuse stinging hairs, blistered and uneven surface so that
it becomes wrinkled when dry, stipules mostly rounded at tip

https://groups.google.com/forum/#!searchin/indiantreepix/Urtica$20ardens/indiantreepix/evkPChbsAQ8/4K4d8YCeSpgJ

I will upload another population of U. ardens soon

U. parviflora with few stinging hairs, narrower leaves, smooth leaf surface
and stipules bifid at tip

There are these caterpillar like protrusions on the Urtica ardens
plants. What are they for I wonder.
