Re: [efloraofindia:384685] Araceae, Arecaceae and Zingiberaceae Fortnight: Araceae-:: Arisaema sp. at Sagargad :: PKA25:

2021-05-05 Thread Pascal Bruggeman
This is one of the S Indian forms of Arisaema tortuosum. There seem to be 2
different phenotypes in S India, a form with a single leaf like this and a long
peduncle starting quite low and a form that is more alike the Himalayan forms
with 2-3 leaves and a shorter peduncle . I am not sure yet if they both should
be considered the same species but for now they are treated as tortuosum.

Strictly speaking does jacquemontii not occur in S India but Arisaema wightii,
growing at altitude in the Western Ghats (Anamundi), is sometimes considered
the S Indian form of it. Jacquemontii and wightii however have a thinner and
shorter appendix.

[efloraofindia:384645] Hippeastrum puniceum & Hippeastrum reginae- difference

2021-05-05 Thread J.M. Garg
There is confusion between the two. I could get the keys at Two new
critically endangered species of Hippeastrum (Amaryllidaceae) from the
Brazilian Cerrado

7. Flowers generally campanulate; apex of the tepals salmon or orange,
rarely pink, yellowish to green adaxially at their base and forming a
circular pattern at the throat ..*H. puniceum* (Fig. 6I)
–. Flowers infundibuliform; apex of the tepals dark red to carmine,
greenish white adaxially at the base with extensions to the middle of the
limb *H. reginae* (Fig. 6J).

Both species are reported from India as per details at Hippeastrum

Still it appears an uphill task to decipher it.
