Re: [efloraofindia:391985] Lettuce For ID : California : 08MAR15 : AK-8

2021-07-13 Thread Gurcharan Singh
As far as identification it is Curly Scotch Kale. As far as nomenclature,
all cultivars like kale, collards in which basal or apical head is not
formed were placed under var. acephala, later they were separated under:
edible under var. viridis and ornamental under sabellica. More recently
varietal distinction under Brassica oleracea has been abolished, they are
rather grouped under cultivar groups, all kales and collards under Cultivar
group Acephala.

2021-07-13 Thread J.M. Garg
Thanks, Pardesi ji.
As per description of *Merremia umbellata* as per Convolvulaceae Unlimited
:
Inflorescence umbelliform cymes, few to many flowered
It further says:
*Merremia umbellata* can be recognized by its whitish puberulent axial
parts, especially the pedicels; the crowded, umbelliform inflorescences
(the secondary and tertiary branches short or none); the unequal sepals,
with the outer two shorter, obovate, tapering to narrow bases between which
the inner sepals are visible. Generally, the flowers of *M. umbellata* are
smaller and there are more of them per inflorescence than in *M.
bambusetorum* and *M. kingii*, though precise delimitation for these 3
species remains elusive.

It may be Operculina turpethum (L.) Silva Manso
, with flowers
solitary or cymose as per Flora of Pakistan

(also see Flora of China
).

Pl. confirm.

Saw this ornamental Bonsai at the BBC Show in MNP, Mumbai on 29/3/13.
 Tiny purple flowers.
Sorry for the bad pictures due to low light as the Bonsai were kept
 inside a hall.

2021-07-13 Thread bharathi raja

or Tiger reserves.
I have seen Stereospermum colais common in Bandipur Tiger reserve with
each tree producing KG's of seeds(Each weighing less than a gram being a
Samara wing seed).

If I get the seeds of S colais I will share with you.I have to visit a
place called Jawadhu hills. As COVID still a problem my travel is on

This is in the B. malabarica/fallax group, which is not well understood. We
are currently working on typifying and clarifying these names. It could be
a sp nov.

Thank you.

Saroj Kasaju

Thank you very much for ID my plant. It is very similar to *B. malabarica*
(Malabar is an old nearby state before our Independence, not now) but not
hairy and flower bunches are lengthy. My plant fully hairy and I don't see
matching images while googling. I also think it is *Begonia anaimalaiensis*.

With kind regards,
Sam.
