[efloraofindia:431421] Citrus (Rutaceae) page with comparative images

2022-08-26 Thread J.M. Garg
Dear members,

Pl. go through‎ *Citrus * (
*Rutaceae*) page with comparative images of species in efloraofindia,
following botanical classification as in POWO
. On clicking the link of species, one can
check the complete details. Genus pages generally give details of most of
the species found in India.

I request you to pl. go through & point out mistakes, if any. I hope this
will aid in identification in future. If anybody can send images of other
species of this genus (for incorporation in the website), if any, or can
identify unidentified images, it will be really nice. Pl. circulate it
widely, for the benefit of all concerned.

2022-08-26 Thread J.M. Garg
ITIS was the 1st online database which came around 2000.
It had its limitations being the 1st.
The Plant List followed it on a much wider scale in 2010, but it was a
static source which was not updated at all.
Things moved for better with the recent coming of Catalogue of Life and
after that of POWO.
I think on plants, POWO is the best on date, though not totally reliable
(as are other databases), but they keep on updating regularly.

Hi, Suneel ji,
The Plant List is very old, and published in 2010 and not updated after
that and sourced it's data on Citrus from Kew only. Latest from Kew is POWO
and constantly updated.
So better to follow POWO.

[efloraofindia:431337] Re: Cotoneaster microphyllus Wall. ex Lindl.

2022-08-26 Thread J.M. Garg
I think it is Cotoneaster marginatus
 (POWO

considers it as a syn. of *Cotoneaster integrifolius* (Roxb.) G.Klotz) as
per keys in Online Flora of Nepal:
15a Prostrate shrubs with irregular branching. Leaf margin flat, apex
obtuse to retuse, rarely acute, glabrous or glabrescent below ... C.
microphyllus
b Low or dwarf shrubs, divaricate or squarrose, with regular branching.
Leaf margins ± revolute, apex obtuse, acute or acuminate, tomentose,
pubescent or glabrescent below ... C. integrifolius

[efloraofindia:431335] Re: France, July 2022 :: Hebe cultivar for ID :: ARK2022-089

2022-08-26 Thread Plantaholic Sheila.
Leaves do not look correct to be Hebe buxifolia Patty Purple.

Hebe are hard so many named cultivars...flowers look so similar.
Size of the shrub comes into the equation.
As does the stem colour.
Need a Hebe expert.

Hi, Mahadeswara ji,
You need not to resurface for my response, as I go one by one from older to
new threads.
If you resurface, it becomes a new thread and my response is delayed.
