Dear all Ji,
This is really Spinacia oleralea (left plant, right is tomato). Usually,
Spinacia is dioecious, but in your case it is monoecious (some cultivated
exemplars). The male flowers are above, and the female ones below the male
inflorescence covered with bracts tightly adjoining to the fruit. They are
clustered together.
Best wishes,
Alexander

No, these are not fruits/ seeds. These are some other structures. I am not

Re: [efloraofindia:444049] Kas Week :: DV :: 19 OCT 07 - 1120 :: Solanum lasiocarpum

2023-03-16 Thread J.M. Garg
solanaceaesource

gives quite a detailed inf.
Pl. check with this also and confirm.
As per this:
Deb (1979) relegated *S. hovei* to the synonymy of the widespread and
highly variable *Solanum violaceum* (as *S. indicum*). *Solanum
violaceum* differs
from *S. hovei* in having recurved cauline prickles, broadly elliptic to
ovate leaves, sinuate to more deeply lobed leaf margins, rounded to
subcordate leaf bases, and erect fruiting pedicels. In contrast, *S. hovei* has
predominantly straight cauline prickles, rhombic to subelliptic leaves,
shallowly triangular-lobed leaf margins, acute to short-attenuate leaf
bases, and often recurved fruiting pedicels.

However, as per recent interpretation of S. lasiocarpum (these species
have been much confused in the past), S. lasiocarpum has only white (and
not purple) flowers and characteristic hairy ovary and berry.

[efloraofindia:444029] Re: SK 3702 14 March 2023

2023-03-16 Thread J.M. Garg
Going by keys from Flora of Nepal Online account (as below), it should be
Eriobotrya elliptica:
1a Twigs glabrous, 2–4 mm thick E. dubia

b Twigs tomentose, 5–9 mm thick ... 2

2a Leaves densely tomentose below. Stipules persistent, subulate.
Cultivated E. japonica

b Leaves glabrous or glabrescent below. Stipules caducous. Wild 3

3a Petioles 16–50 mm. Leaves usually only slightly toothed towards apex E.
elliptica
b Petioles 5–9 mm or leaves subsessile. Leaves serrate with hooked teeth in
at least apical three quarters of margin E. hookeriana

In view of the above keys, I have to recheck our our earlier observations at
https://efloraofindia.com/2016/09/18/eriobotrya-elliptica/
