Hi, These plants seem to be Vigna khandalensis. The foliaceous stipules are evident in the second image on which the identity is based. The leaflets are normally lobed. The herbs are in vegetative state. Nevertheless the stipules help in confirming the identity. best regardsAdittya Dharap On Thursday, November 16, 2017 12:26 PM, Mahendra Khyadewrote: Collection: Kalsubai-Harishchandragad wildlife sanctuaryHabitat: ForestCollection: March 2017 Fresh plant August 2017Collected By: Mahendra Khyade-- You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "efloraofindia" group. Re: [efloraofindia:226696] efloraofindia:''For Id'' wild plant with roundish leaves at Talegaon Dabhade :June 2015: MR-02
Hi, I have seen the detailed communication and I agree that the plant is too young to identify. But knowing the area (Talegaon Dabhade) very well, I am sure that this is Rivea laotica (as pointed out by Ron Kushner R.ornata R. laotica are treated as synonyms. but both the names are unresolved according to Plant List). The Two Revia s occuring in Talegaon are Rivea hypocrateriformis R.laotica. These two Rivea s clearly differ in habit, leaf size and shape inflorescence. Following is the key from Flora of Maharashtra. RIVEA Choisy 1. Woodyclimbers; peduncles usually 1.flowered; corolla glabrousoutside .R. hypocrateriformis 1. Erectundershrubs or shrubs; peduncles usually 2.7.flowered; corolla appressedly hairy onlyalong mid.petaline bands .. R. laotica I will post the images of these two Rivea s revealing the these distinct characters. Regarding the synonyms and correct names for R.laotica R.ornata , I am not the right person who can comment on. best regards Adittya Dharap On Tuesday, June 30, 2015 2:44 PM, Bhagyashri itii...@gmail.com wrote: Thank you Garg ji, Ron ji, Mahua ji and Santhan ji.RegardsBhagyashri On Tue, Jun 30, 2015 at 9:56 AM, Ponnutheerthagiri Santhan ponsant...@gmail.com wrote: It is an Argyreia species.(Convolvulaceae) On Mon, Jun 29, 2015 at 9:15 PM, J.M. Re: [efloraofindia:190074] Konkan, May 2014 :: Sonneratia alba :: 07JUN2014 :: ARK-17
This could be Sonneratia alba or S. caseolaris. The very visible difference between them is colour of stamens ( stamen bunch is not seen in any of the image). In case of S.caseolaris, the stamen base is crimson in colour. Hence the id cannot be conclusive. best regards adittya dharap On Saturday, June 7, 2014 3:48 PM, Alka Khare alka...@gmail.com wrote: Hello friends Requesting to please validate the ID (Sonneratia alba) of this mangrove captured in a small village near the Konkan coast, Devgad, Maharashtra in May 2014. Hi, Since you are planning to visit the Bhandup Mangroves, you may expect few more that have not been included in your list: 1. The Bruguiera species in Bhandup mangroves isBruguiera cylindrica. 2. River mangrove i.e Aegiceras corniculatum is quite common in Bhandup mangrove. 3. Aeluropus lagopoides Poaceae is the grass species that is abundantly found in Mangroves. 4. Delve a little deeper, you may find another species of Sonneratia i.e. S.alba which is found deeper in Bhandup and Vikhroli (Godrej) mangroves. 5. There is another species: Avicennia officinalis that is common as well in this area. This can be differentiated from A. marina based on shape of leaves. Mangroves are indeed amazing ! It is necessary to have broader look at each species. Herbaceous Euphorbia species growing in wet habitats, particularly the pycnostegia complex is very variable, depending on the ecological conditions, where they grow. Hence we cannot fix hard and fast parameters on their morphology. Each author describes them in different ways depending on their ecological environment. It is nor advisable to describe each as a separate variety, which would add only confusion and chaos; one has to take a broad outlook on the phenotypic plasticity to each species. Only a monographer, who has studied a large number of herbarium specimens from various localities can give a broad all-encompassing description. N.P.
