I have met this guy in Labagh, and he has documented all the creepers in
Lalbagh.
Infact he(and his friend) have marked every tree in Lalbagh.

You can refer this book for the id.

Re: [efloraofindia:317246] QR Codes and our databases

2019-02-19 Thread 'Raman Arunachalam' via efloraofindia
Dinesh ji,

Generation of QR is not a big deal as Garg ji said.
Its embedding it on each page, is a problem, if done manually.

I will try to generate one html page with embedded QR , which Garg ji can
upload and verify if it works,
then its not big deal to generate the webpages, but Garg ji can upload all of
them.

Exactly this type of question I was expecting during the fortnightly episode

I have gathered some of the information about Gymnosperms from a very
interesting book : The secret Life of Trees by Colin Tudge.
I would like to quote a sentence from the book related to above matter.
India is strangely deprived of wild, native conifers. Conifers grow very well
in India - in plantations. But apart from a few Eurasian types on the
Himalayas, the only living native is Nageia wallichiana of the southern
hemisphere podocarp family in the Western ghats in the southwest of the
 country.
 He further says that.
The reson might behistorical. India was wiped clean about 60 million years
ago by the huge deccan volcanoes, which buried a greater part of the
subcontinent in lava. The angiosperms, by then well established, seem to have
been the first to get back in to the devastated land(although this idea
clearly does not chime well with the conifers' reputation as outstanding
 pioneers.

 Hello All,

I happened to see a chart called Arboretum at National Gallery for Modern
 Art [http://ngmaindia.gov.in/ngma_bangaluru.asp] (my lunch place).
 Arboretum means collection of trees.

This chart had map of ngma campus and also the names of trees (in several
languages) found in the campus. This is an awesome chart.

As anyone else seen similar chart for any other campus ? I

wish we had similar one for lalbagh too.

I really want to collect the latlong (latitude and longitude of the trees) to
get a geographical map.

Dear All,

A lot of persons have compiled data about Lalbagh Flora, independently.
A lot of mails in eflora of India are about the same.
One Mr Srinivas has a checklist of flora and fauna too, of Lalbagh.
Mr Thiruvady's book contains a lot of information.
Last week our group, HU added 2 species to the Lalbagh collection viz. Harpulia
arborea and Dimocarpus longan.

We need to pool data and make a flora map of Lalbagh.
Regards.

Hello,

I did try to find out if they had a road maps of where/which tree is found
in lalbagh. But my search did not yield me any results.
I had seen an excellent map of about various trees in NGMA ( i think
karthik helped them to make this). Below is the email that i had sent last
year
on a similar topic.

Hi,

can you send higher resolution pics of the leaves?  It isn't possible to see
the venation clearly for positive id.
It looks more like F. amplissima than F. mollis.
