Problem with wincvs 1.3.20.2 Beta (missing option general in admin/preferences)

2004-11-18 Thread Hanspeter Schinz
Hi,
I had a wincvs version 1.2 and upgraded now to 1.3.20.2 Beta on a Win XP
machine.
Afterwards I wanted to configure some administration stuff and
didn't find admin/preferences/general (only Globals, CVS, Win CVS and
Command Dialogs are there).
What is the problem there? Is there any general option in the new release?
Thanks

2004-11-18 Thread craigwilson
I noticed you couldn't set ssh anymore as your transport there. The
new wincvs has an ssh dll built in I believe. Maybe the old one did
too but I didn't notice because I always used ext and ssh as my
transport instead of the builtin one.
You might see some of the options you are missing if you right click on
the directory/module you want to check out into the left?

Problem with WinCVS

2002-12-05 Thread David Gagnon
Hello,

I am a new to CVS and I need some help:

We have a CVS server on a Mac OSX computer and it's work well with MacCVS Pro client on a remote Macintosh. All the things seem to be ok for the MacCVS client. But now, I am trying to use WinCVS on Windows XP and I have some problem. Any function return a message like "Cannot fdopen 3296608 for write: No such file or directory".

Note that I am using WinCVS1.3b5 with Python 2.2.2.

Thanks a lot!

Current is WinCVS 1.3b10. Always upgrade to the latest when you
haven't gotten something to work yet. CVS GUI is now found at

Need advice on Problem with WinCVS and tkCVS clients

2000-08-10 Thread Andrew Wallace
Title: Need advice on Problem with WinCVS and tkCVS clients

CVSers,

I have just started a new position and am trying to get a CM environment up and running using CVS. When I run either WinCVS

or tkCVS from a MS 2000 environment using CVS 1.10.8 on a solaris box managing the repository, all functions seem to work

with the exception of cvs commit. I get the following message from both clients when I try to commit:

cvs commit -m Test commit purpose.html (in directory D:\WORKAREA\cm\website\)
cvs [server aborted]: commit requires write access to the repository

*CVS exited normally with code 1*

The CVSROOT is set to andwall@localhost:/home/cvs/repository with pserver authentication
on WinCVS.

Environment setting on pc for tkCVS:
CVSROOT is set to :pserver:[EMAIL PROTECTED]:/home/cvs/repository,
USER is andwall,
Path has been expanded to find diff.exe, cat.exe, and cvs.exe.

I have done the following on the unix server:

The userid I am using (andwall) on the solaris box is in the /etc/passwd file and been added to a groupid of cvs.
The repository has been set up in the home directory of an id cvs and is owned by cvs with rwx permissions.
The default groupid for all of the repository directories is cvs with rwx permissions. (World is r-x)
A directory repacc has been created in the cvs home directory with a groupid of cvs. The permissions are rwxrwxr-x.

I have ensured the CVSROOT/config file has the following line:
 LockDir=/home/cvs/repacc
I have ensured the CVSROOT/config file does not have the following line:
 SystemAuth=no
I have ensured the CVSROOT/history file has permissions of rw-rw-rw-. Owner/groupid is cvs/cvs.

After the following lines were added to /etc/services and /etc/inetd.conf, the system was rebooted.
The /etc/services file has the following line:
 cvspserver 2401/tcp
The /etc/inetd.conf file has the following line:
cvspserver stream tcp nowait root /usr/local/bin/cvs cvs -f --allow-root=/home/cvs/repository pserver

Has anyone encountered this message? (I'm all ears)
Can anyone comment on what I might have missed?

Thanks in advance for any help.

2000-08-10 Thread Deaver, Carl

Maybe check your settings under "CVsAdmin" and then the "Globals" tab and
make sure the "Checkout read-only" check box is NOT checked? If it is
checked then you can only read.

Good luck

Merge problem with WinCVS

2000-05-17 Thread Borrione Aldo

Maybe this is a trivial matter, but here it is:

We develop in WinCVS on the main trunk and say we arrive at ver 1.4 of
file.c.

Then we create a branch, named my_branch, and Team A starts working
on it. As a result of this work, some lines are added, some are modified
and some other are deleted from the initial revision of file.c.

Team B goes on on the main trunk, does a similar job as Team A and
checks in, at the end, version 1.5.

Now the two teams prepare from a merge from my_branch to the main trunk.

How is the merge done, in detail ??

In our experience it seems that lines that are DELETED while working on the
branch
versions REAPPEAR after the merge if these ARE STILL present in the main
trunk
versions. Should this be outlined as a "whole line" conflict ?

So, what kind of merge is this ? In other words, what are exactly the merge
rules ?

We have carefully looked at the Cederqvist, but we did not find a suitable
answer to
our doubts. This is very important for us since if we do not clearly
understand
what is behind the merge command we feel a little unconfident in the merge
operation, which is not frequent in our environment but sometimes really
necessary.

By the way, is it possible to integrate in WinCVS an external merge tool (
such as
AraxisMerge ) the same way it is possible to integrate an external diff tool
?

Thanks in advance for any kind of help.

Re: help! Problem running WinCVS v1.1b12 (beta) on NT.

2000-04-27 Thread Alexandre Parenteau

Alexandra,

Looking at the generated application error log, it looks like null values
are being passed to a strcmp() routine, hence the crash. The stack dump is
only partial, though, so I don't really know what's going on.

Even if it's partial, it could help us if you could copy this stack
crawl.

Regards,
alex.

In any case, this is an unwelcome surprise. Anyone else seen this?

BTW, I run IE 5, so I would guess that the comdlg32.dll version (4.00) and
comctl32.dll (5.81) are current enough to be OK. Anything else I should look
 for as a possible culprit?

When I uninstall version 1.1 and reinstall version 1.0.6, the older version
 continues to work well.

Thanks for any help or insight you can offer.
