Some mail client (like thunderbird) store mailboxes in mbox format.
You can create an empty folder in any non imap account, replace the
empty file by your
dump, start your MUA, check if your mail are ok.
Then configure your imap account and dragdrop into it.
You can see the result in seconds.

If you mailbox is very big or you have lot of mailboxes to migrate,
command line tool become more interesting. Hope someone else will help
you in this case. Did you googled for mbox imap migration or
conveetion ?

Regards.

Hi, I just tryied to migrate with these tools and after some
modifications ( virtual host, diferen path in cyrus 2.2.2Beta ) it also
converted but cyrus cant handle it. When checking my mail I see no mail
and when receiven new mile the files are overwritten.
has someone tested this successful with cyru2.2.2 ?
or is there any other way to migrate ? I only have about 20 accounts but
some of them have a lot of folders !

All I can say is that they worked here for Cyrus 2.1.15! :)

The errors you describe sound like you didn't run reconstruct on the
mailbox after the migration, or perhaps the reconstruct doesn't work the
same way in 2.2.

I believe all of those scripts are also hosted in the Cyrus wiki, so if
you find bugs, please update them there so everyone benefits...

The administration section is probabaly a good start. I'd rather you put
all the content in the wiki, that way everything is in one place and
other people can update it later freely.

mbox to Cyrus migration document

2003-11-18 Thread Andrew Morgan

On August 30th, 2003, our site migrated from standard unix mbox format
mailboxes to Cyrus. I've seen a lot of people ask how to do this
migration, so I've written up a document describing how we did it and the
scripts we used.

Hi Andy:

This sort of thing would be really useful to put in the Wiki:

That sounds good to me. I've never touched the Cyrus Wiki before... Do
you want to add it, or should I create an account for myself and figure
out where to put it? :)

Creating generic accounts is currently Hard because we're sharing this
with some of our internal sites.

But just doing it as a guest user should be fine.

Uhh, so where in the Wiki should I put it? Also, I was intending to just
create a link to my site, rather than duplicating the content into the

Sorry, I'm a little ignorant when it comes to Wiki's... :)
