RSS youtube feeds show read-flagged videos/messages again

2014-01-24 Thread Stefan Huchler
When I use gnus-group-get-new-news in the group buffer I see in my
rss-groups always much new messages. Its always 1 new and 10 old I seen
already every day.

I tried different stuff, like scoring or something but nothing seems to
do the job.

One part of the Problem is that I dont really understand what the
problem is, are this Messages Reposts or Answers on the youtube sites?
But the last seems not make sense because in this follow-ups I donĀ“t
see youtube-commentaries.

But I think if I have threading view activated at least sometimes if not
ever its follow-ups.

I tried in the group buffer to activate spam-filtering for reposts, but
that did not fix the problem.

Hope somebody can give me a hint.

My guess would be that the RSS feed you're reading doesn't give nnrss a
way to identify posts reliably, so it always thinks that the messages
are new.

Thanx for trying to help me ;)

But I think thats not the Problem, why would youtube rss contain again
and again old posts, should there not only be the newer ones. Hmm I try
to look at it in ascii form maybe I see the entrences.

here is such a example:

lt;a
href=http://www.youtube.com/videos?c=20gt;Gaminglt;/agt;lt;/tdgt;lt;/trgt;lt;/tbodygt;lt;/tablegt;lt;/divgt;/descriptionlinkhttp://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hXBEWdtI5bAamp;feature=youtube_gdata/linkauthorHDstarcraft/author/itemitemguid

+/pubDateatom:updated2014-01-09T04:41:14.000Z/atom:updatedcategory
domain='http://schemas.google.com/g/2005#kind'http://gdata.youtube.com/schemas/2007#video/categorytitleHD
Starcraft 2 Scarlett v Bomber ZvT g1/titledescription

From this rss feed:

http://www.youtube.com/rss/user/hdstarcraft/videos.rss

so wth would it be updated in the first place ^^ the pubDate is last
year but it got updates 2014-01-09.

But even that would not explain why gnus adds it again and again. gnus
shows the pubDate not the update time.

Re: RSS youtube feeds show read-flagged videos/messages again

2014-01-24 Thread Stefan Huchler
hmm I think I stumbled over a variable that is made for my problem:

nnrss-ignore-article-fields
Some feeds update constantly article fields during their publications,
e.g., to indicate the number of comments. However, if there is a
difference between the local article and the distant one, the latter is
considered to be new. To avoid this and discard some fields, set this
variable to the list of fields to be ignored. The default is
'(slash:comments).

I will wait and see what it updates, description or something and set it
to ignore that.

Hope that is the fix.
