Re: [Inkscape-docs] extension testers needed
Oh, thanks Martin! When I test, I can see some extra blank space shows up, when Extensions category is selected. But there aren't any buttons, it's just blank space underneath the message box. I'm using SeaMonkey browser. Let me try with Firefox No, it's still blank space with Firefox too. It adds a drop down of selectable tags which only appear when you select a category that this group of tags is associated with. It uses the same selection as the gallery/category pages do (so for extensions we have a ready made list of options) https://inkscape.org/en/gallery/upload/ It may need some tweaks, but I wanted to get the format in front of you sooner so you can try it out. Re: [Inkscape-docs] extension testers needed
I agree about the multiselect (but don't like the design too much, I think it's better to have the items more separate, like it's done in Martin's version). Jabier, as a non-smartphone owner, I wonder how does multiselect work without a keyboard? (we've recently had an m23 user who didn't even think of using Ctrl to select multiple options...). Click-activate, click-deactivate would be useful then, I assume? Great work. Maybe if the dropdown is changed to a multiselect on click become more easy to use, and become a dropdown on unfocus. Just a idea. One question in licensed type why not put in the dropdown a extra info in GPLV2 "(as inkscape)" or something similar to help integrating things into the codebase. Regards, Jabier. I think this can be handy: https://medium.com/@xaviju/inkscape-extensions-by-non-developers-for-non-developers-a-primer-b272dda360fe Regards. -Original Message- From: brynn To: Victor Westmann Cc: Inkscape-Docs Subject: Re: [Inkscape-docs] extension testers needed Date: Mon, 18 Jun 2018 19:38:22 -0600 We already have this guide to writing extensions: https://inkscape.org/en/develop/extensions/ As far as I understand, it could use some "fleshing out" in some places. But mostly writing extensions is over my head, so someone else would have to point out which places need more work. At the bottom of the page tells about publishing therm. Is that what you were thinking of? Or did you have something else in mind? It's just that not all people who write extensions will see that, or necessarily want to put them in the gallery. That's why my original message was about finding people to test them. But now, I'm thinking it might be better to just remind the developers to include the Inkscape versions and operating systems which it works with, when they upload them. brynn -Original Message- From: Victor Westmann Sent: Sunday, June 17, 2018 9:13 PM To: brynn Cc: Inkscape-Docs Subject: Re: [Inkscape-docs] extension testers needed Is it possible for us to create a draft of a HOW TO PUBLISH YOUR EXTENSIONS for the Inkscape project form the Gitlab wiki pages? I can understand how it would take some extra time and energy (for the website developers) to make checkboxes or something. But I would be happy if just a sentence or 2 could be displayed.
